The Time 5-29

Just want to begin by saying, if it wasn't for the June 08 Vegas shows, this show would have been perfect. I say this only because they didn't do any new numbers like See-Thru as they did last time. Nor did they do the Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis, Monte section. Jesse did his three (Free World, Be your man, and Can you help me) preceded by a hot solo.
A great show overall, however there were many empty seats. Lastly, just wanted to add, I know Jesse gets a lot of love which is much deserved, but damn the sizzle that Jimmy Jam puts on those keys are HOT! He definitely adds a dynamic to the group.

Thanks for the mini review.

Sidenote:

Rhastus (or anyone else who has been going to these new "Old Time" shows), if you've been catching these shows, can you give us a setlist?

I just got back and I've been sick all weekend so it might be later in the week before the reviews get posted. I just have to figure out what I can and can't put in them. Somethings no matter how COOL aren't ment for general consumption cool

Believe me I won't post any drama. And I know how much people wanna hear about some of the behind the scences stuff so I'll see what I can do. My luggage is still lost so I can't get all my details together until it shows up biggrin

I did a write up of my trip and first day in Vegas. Probably not much interest to most folks that's why I didn't post it here, but it does have some of the hang out stuff from the first day that some folks might want to check out. Its on my Facebook if anybody wants to read it. Click on the note. First day in Vegas

Thanks to Lotus for posting the setlist. In addition to being in a hurry when I wrote my-mini review, I kinda assumed everyone would know the set list after I said they didn't do any new cuts. It was the usual set except for the Jesse portion My bad. Anyway, notes: Jesse is rocking a new Airfro\natural kinda look, he rocked just the strat all night. It was funny as hell at one point when the band was doing "If the Kid can't make you Come". there was a "Large" woman in itty bitty shorts on stage (not young either). When Morris asked Jesse to come play guitar for her, Jesse's facial expressions were priceless! He basically tried to hide and Morris and Jerome had to walk him to the middle of the stage! Hillarious! Just as it did in June of 08, Jimmy Jam had a keyboard malfunction where a tech had to come on stage and reattach his gear. The stink face you see from Jerome was funny as hell! this was the face you make when they do their now famous 1/2 beats! Another highlight of the show was when Morris explained how he doesn't sweat. What he does is "condensate". My wife and I ran into Jerome in the casino before the show and as always, a class act. He will talk and trip with you like its nothing at all. He was telling us about how the new music is done and of course I had to give him some shit saying "yeah, I've heard that before". He was cool saying we would get some "snippets" of the new stuff that night but alas, it didn't happen (I wanted more See-thru, I dug that joint!!!). Again, a great show. I don't think it was good as 06/08, but still a damn great show...... [Edited 6/1/10 18:48pm]

Wow! This is very exciting!

THE TIME is scheduled to play here on June 18th, and it could not be more perfect if the original lineup is actually playing.

I had my doubts because the radio station advertising here has characterized the band as "Morris Day and The Time," which would've been great, but to know the whole lineup will be present is even better - truly giving me something to look forward to.

I can't wait! THE TIME is one of my all TIME favorite bands, and this will be my first TIME to ever see them (wasn't alive during their album years). Morris has been my comedic hero for years now, and THE TIME music is untouchable - nothing comes close.

Where is here?

Right now the only shows the originals have lined up is Detroit and Minneapolis.

The touring version is great as well and you still get Jellybean, Monte and off course Morris
