HILVERSUM - Chaka Khan will receive the lifetime achievement Edison Jazz 2010. The singer gets the award on November 11 awarded in the Music Building Frits Philips in Eindhoven.

That is what the Edison Foundation, the organization behind the prize, announced Thursday.

"With her age and track record you can Chaka Khan definitely call a 'grand lady'. A lady in every aspect, "so explains why the Edison Foundation Khan deserves the prize. "Her small but impressive figure, her expression, especially that great voice, millions of people around the world embraced."

Comeback
Khan was 20 years when she was vocalist with the funk band Rufus, who broke through with the song Tell Me Something Good. Later she scored hits with songs like I'm Every Woman and Is not Nobody. In 2007 she made a comeback with the album Funk This.

The prestigious Edison is this year for the fiftieth time awarded. There are three categories each year in prizes handed pop, classical and jazz / world.
