Sheila E and Ricky Petersen interview on PBSfm Hey Everyone,
My name's Adam Rudegeair and I present a jazz funk show on community radio station PBSfm here in Melbourne, Australia. My show is called Black Wax, and this week I've pre-recorded an interview with with St Paul and Ricky Petersen about their upcoming Melbourne show. I also had a chat with Eric Leeds, and I'll ber including some of that interview too. The gig is on May 19th, and I'm going to air the interview on Monday the 10th between 11am and 1pm local time. You can hear the interview on the "listen live" or "radio on demand" sections of the PBS website, www.pbsfm.org.au I can guarantee I'm going to be asking them some Prince related questions. Just though y'all might like to know. Wish me luck, I'm either going to explode from nervousness or excitement! [Edited 5/8/10 23:10pm] Take it - like Clarence said:

Last night, Paul turned on the uStream cam and we were able to watch Ricky, Paul, and others, rehearse for the upcoming Oz show.
Hmmm, who was that fellow on drums? Oh yeah, it was MICHAEL BLAND! They did a very funky take on "High Fashion". They also did "God Bless The Child" that was pretty damn awesome. That family is uber talented. I don't know all the players that were there, but they ran through songs just effortlessly.

I don't know who the girl(s) were. Michael Bland was workin' it out on his drum kit. I am not sure if he's touring with them or just in rehearsals. I know Sheila E. will be on the tour, but will she be the opening act, or the drummer for the band, or both? We shall see, but it'd be great if M.B. was on the tour.

Ricky told me himself when I spoke to him the other day. Also, on the tour poster for the Aussie tour, it's clearly a co-headline gig for the Peterson Brothers and Sheila. Of should the rest of the bands are also Petersons, but they don't have any marquis value out here. Here's a link to the poster. http://rickypeterson.com/archives/313 I'm excited! http://peachandblack.podbean.com Thanks! I'd be interested in knowing what brings them to Australia first on their tour...and will they be touring other countries or the USA, for that matter? lol I guess this is something that Hatman could find out on his radio show, as well.

Sorry guys, yes I get busy and left the thread alone for a few days. The gig is Wednesday 19th in Melbourne. The special will be Monday 10th from 11am to 1pm. You can hear it over the interview though the radio on demand feature on the website. www.pbsfm.org.au. The show is called Black Wax. My interview with Sheila got postponed, so it won't make it into the MPLS funk special ,but I'll air it at a later date. I did manage to get Eric Leeds though, so it's be highlights from my talk with him (even though he's not on the tour), Ricky P and St Paul. Plus a whole buncha music!
Thanks everyone! Take it - like Clarence said:

I have been friends with Paul, then in turn Ricky, for 15 plus years. In December 2009 I happened to be in Japan with one of the acts I manage and Paul mentioned to me that Ricky was there with Sanborn so after playing phone tag for a few days we caught up for Dinner. He mentioned how much he would love to tour Australia so we brainstormed for a bit after Xmas and put it together. Paul & Ricky asked Sheila if she wanted to be involved - because she is a. awesome and b. good friends with them all - and she was into it so here we are! I hope you guys continue to spread the word ... the show will be awesome! Cheers, Neil Richards
