According to an update on Jesse Johnson's FB page, he will be doing a set of JJ solo material "mid-set" during the Time shows. Hopefully a new song and 3 or 4 classic JJ numbers.

Yeah! That's what he did at The Time's Vegas shows a couple of years ago. Actually all of them had little segments to shine. Not given away the show.

Hello Everyone!

I just off the phone with the fellas and here's the scoop:

"The Chicago date will be played later in the Summer. As well as Washington D.C. ***ALONG WITH OTHER DATES*** dropping over the next few weeks.

THE TIME IS BACK & FINISHING THE ALBUM"

Quality takes Time, so everyone that can chill, just stay C.O.O.L

This is GREAT news if it is true. Please don't hand out false hope. sad I was so excited at the thought of seeing them for the first time live. Any idea of how much "later in the summer" the Chicago date will happen?

I'm going to see them for free next thursday uptown Charlotte.
They are being billed as Morris Day and The Time so i doubt
it will be the original members performing.

Poor ticket sales. They shouldnt charge so much. Detroit still has half of the venue open. They need to postpone it an bring it with an album and promotion. This could be GREAT if thats the plan

I just got back from the show. It was a damn good show for free for
the Speed Street event. They kind of half assed the finale Jungle Love
but all in all it was a tight show. I was close by the stage but i
had to settle for a couple of pics on the jumbotron.

Just got word from a friend...

Morris Day & The Time will be the headlining act of Union County, NJ's Rhythm & Blues by the Brook. This annual FREE event features live performances, vendors, and a Kids Kingdom.

When: Saturday, June 5, 2010
Time: 12:00 - 7:00pm
Where: Cedar Brook Park, Plainfield, NJ
Schedule Line-up:
12:15 – 12:45 DJ Bookeem
1:00 – 2:00 Carl Weathersby
2:30 - 4:30 Biz Markie
5:15 - 6:45 Morris Day & The Time

Caution: Do not wait too late to get to the park. People start setting up as early as 10:00 a.m. to a good spot near the stage, and the parking is very limited in the park.

excited I'm seeing The Time, for FREE!!! Oh mannnnn! That's a day after my dad's birthday too! can't wait!!!

That's cool! I'd make the trip since it's so close to where I'm at in Union. But I'm more interested in seeing the original band line up. Morris's touring version of the band is cool but I've seen them live already. If Morris get top billing it's a pretty safe bet it's the touring version of the band. It's extremely doubtful that you get the all the original cats at a free event in N.J.

I saw them on Saturday in Las Vegas. I gotta say it was the highlight of my life. Them bruthas put on a show that was the shit. I now know the stories about them kickin Prince's ass nightly in the 80's were true. If I could see Prince right now, I would bitch slap him for causing them to break up. Ok getting back on the subject. They played shit I have wanted to hear them play live ( The Stick, My drawers, etc.) And Jesse played a solo set that included a Jimi Hendrix bluesy number, I want to be your man,Free World and Can you help me. If you get a chance to see these bruthas don't hesitate to buy the tickets. I had to dig in my video collection and pull out some old concerts, so I wouldn't go spend more money on tickets. This was not by choice I have a family and need to be responsible wink

From Drfunkenberry.com site about The Time performance in Vegas this week. Nice!

The funkmasters from the Minneapolis Sound came out to Vegas to let everyone know “What Time Is It?” by performing 2 hot funky sets over the weekend at The Hilton.

The OG Time, Morris Day, Jerome Benton, Terry Lewis, Jimmy Jam, Monte Moire, Jellybean Johnson and Jesse Johnson electrified the crowd that knows them from the fame of “Purple Rain” and “Jay & Silent Bob”, but if you LOVE real music that is going to keep you vibin’ for more than 1 summer, The Time has been funky for the past 3 decades. No need to use your fingers; that’s 30 years of musicianship right there.

“Jungle Love” “777-9311″ “Gigolos Get Lonely 2″ “Stick” “The Bird”, and “Cool” were played plus more of the Time’s classic signatures written with Jamie StarrPrince. (You old school funkers got that reference right? You know how I do.)

Now, you know one of my funkenspies (the person who provided us the photos to use) was up in there and we asked about the new CD n if/when it will come out and we got this from Terry Lewis:

“I can assure you the CD is done and will be out this year.”

Morris also mentioned it during the show. When we talked with Jimmy Jam at a Grammy event a few months ago, they were waiting for distribution.

We have been hearing bees buzzing in the industry trying to lock The Time up into an extended tour with another hot act or 2, but my funkenspy could not confirm that for you.

Well, Jimmy has my card, so if you want to speak on that, you know how. <img src=" />
