Just got thinking a second ago, I wonder why Prince won't let St. Paul and Suzy use the name "the Family" (as opposed to FDeluxe)? I mean, was P really planning to use the Family name later on or something. Considering P doesn't reissue cd's from his back catalog he doesn't stand to lose any $$. Or does it have something to do with Warner Bros and Prince not wanting them to make another nickel off of him?

I usually understand P's business decisions even if I don't always agree with them, but this one baffles me. Any Idea's?

I think it's a good idea to have their name being FDeluxe, they're still making music and a lot of it is not covers of what Prince wrote for them.

There's no suggestion box open. They did that for a long while and solicited name suggestions. F Deluxe is what they settled on. Let's just be ready for the album. It's going to be HOT, ya'll!

Paul is putting together a greatest hits compilation, including some live Family songs that The Truth did.

I think it's a fair question really. I agree the new name is awful, sounds like a value meal or a feminine wash. Anyone who has tuned in to one of their web streams have heard the new material which sounds amazing. Plus I loved what I heard of Sanctified on their Myspace page, too funky. I think the album will not disappoint and I can't wait to have it in my hands. But the name still makes me shutter. Not liking the name doesn't mean we don't appreciate their musical efforts 100%, but I won't lie, I still call them the Family!

I may have just peed a little at the thought of a St Paul Greatest Hits?? Wow. I think a "megamix 12inch" single would be pushing it.
