When I first heard this song,the vocals reminded me of the lead singer of A Taste Of Honey Of course,that lady can actually carry a tune,lol,but Vanity's vocals are somewhat similar.

This was back when female sexuality in popular music was not sinister, degrading, vulgar, or overtly stupid - as it is today. As useless as the song is, it is a classic with some redeeming quality.

When I hear this song I have this image of Vanity giving some guy a hand job and ooops! he comes and it goes on her dress. Classy.

We see a huge champagne glass filled with what looks like pearls (suggesting a "pearl necklace"??)

and there's there the champagne sequence that you mentioned.

She was a pretty mess. Prince should have NEVER let her anywhere near a microphone.

the funny thing is,she actually sounded decent in Vanity 6.Not GREAT,but decent.Either Prince gave her songs that didn't require alot of vocal ability,or he was somehow able to hide her vocal flaws.On songs like "Nasty Girl" and "If A Girl Answers",she's basically just "speaking" the lyrics,not really even trying to sing.Somehow,it all worked.But when she went solo,she made an effort to "sing" and couldn't really pull it off completely.Some of the vocals on 'Wild Animal' are horrendous (listen to the last track "Crazy Maybe").

yes having Morris Day on the chorus was GREAT and to my understanding Morris Day & Jam&Lewis as well as Jesse Johnson were GREAT friends of Vanity and were gonna work with her on her 3rd solo release which i thought would have been AWESOME.
