Love this song!
Who knew that she'd record the Monica Lewinsky soundtrack years ahead of it's time! She made getting nutted on so sexy!!! When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

I like the song but Lord, the way she tries to sing in that "operatic" type voice sounds like someone is pulling her cat hairs out one by one. Andy is a four letter word.

When I first heard this song, the vocals reminded me of the lead singer of A Taste Of Honey Of course, that lady can actually carry a tune, lol, but Vanity's vocals are somewhat similar.

This was back when female sexuality in popular music was not sinister, degrading, vulgar, or overtly stupid - as it is today. As useless as the song is, it is a classic with some redeeming quality.

When I hear this song I have this image of Vanity giving some guy a hand job and ooops! he comes and it goes on her dress. Classy.

OMG that was also my very first thought!!! With all the enhanced women celebrities, I am not looking at a woman so flat She really was beautiful and deffinately loved the camera. There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.

This video is Disney stuff compared to the smutty videos that today's singers put out.

I posted this after reading only your response - I did not have the time to read Brofie's or Dez's or anybody elses. We have just gotten sooo use to everybody being either silicone enhanced or taped up and pushed up etc. Back then it was so different. Iman was also VERY flat back then and to me she looked more beautiful. After it was done the breasts took away from the gorgeous neck and shoulders. Dez is right, she had it done before "B-cup" became the new "double A" cup. C cup girls are now modestly endowed, D is slightly busty and DD is what you need to be considered "big busted". I hope this crazyness doesn't continue to escalate There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.

Bree8016 said: @ the champagne I like the way the director of this video used subtle "hints" throughout He had to be really careful to not make the video too suggestive or sleazy, but I think he still wanted to give a vague idea of what the song is about, lol. During the scene where Vanity sings "I'm drippin' like a hot tea",we see the bartender lady (played by Vanity) spilling the drink she's pouring, lol. We see a huge champagne glass filled with what looks like pearls (suggesting a "pearl necklace"??) and there's there the champagne sequence that you mentioned.

She was a pretty mess. Prince should have NEVER let her anywhere near a microphone.

the funny thing is,she actually sounded decent in Vanity 6.Not GREAT,but decent.Either Prince gave her songs that didn't require alot of vocal ability,or he was somehow able to hide her vocal flaws. On songs like "Nasty Girl" and "If A Girl Answers",she's basically just "speaking" the lyrics, not really even trying to sing.Somehow,it all worked. But when she went solo, she made an effort to "sing" and couldn't really pull it off completely. Some of the vocals on 'Wild Animal' are horrendous (listen to the last track "Crazy Maybe").

...except on "3 x 2 = 6". That shit is like fingernails across a blackboard.

SoulAlive said: "Mechanical Emotion" is the best song on her 'Wild Animal' album. It boasts a hot Minneapolis groove and having Morris Day on the chorus was a smart move.
yes having Morris Day on the chorus was GREAT and to my understanding Morris Day & Jam&Lewis as well as Jesse Johnson were GREAT friends of Vanity and were gonna work with her on her 3rd solo release which i thought would have been AWESOME.
