Kahoru Kohiruimaki: 2 questions ??? Hi y'all.
1st, i always wondered if anyone knew the story behind the "Time The Motion" album release: how did a Japanese artist end-up signing a deal with Paisly Park Records for a Japan-only release?! 2nd, i had heard rumors about her recording a Japanese version of "The Most Beautiful Girl In The world" but i always thought it was either a hoax or an unreleased track, until i fell down on a live version (with live musicians) of it sang by her on Youtube. Did she release a studio version and if so, when was it released, & was it rerecorded or was it with Prince's music behind like with the Mayte, Eric Leeds & Brian Gallagher versions??? Any info will be much welcome, thanks [Edited 3/22/10 15:40pm] A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

According to Uptown's The Vault, Prince was approached by Kahoru Kohiruimaki's manager, who had previously been responsible for Prince's tour promotion in Japan. ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

[Edited 3/22/10 15:40pm] Yes, her versions were officially released. The first one appeared on her best album titled White Kohhy Best '89 - '95, which was released in 1995. The track was accompanied by sub-title that meant it's a kind of remix - Mood II Swing Club Mix. Club-oriented arrangement with faster beat with the track reminds me of "Beautiful" than "TMBGITW" itself. The second one made a part of her fanclub-only album titled Anniversary Nights (released in 1997). The arrangement for backing here is very simple and multiple overdubbing of her voice lets it sounds like a cappella. Both versions include Japanese lyric (not a translation to the original) and do not seem to feature Prince's original recording. Hope this helps [Edited 3/23/10 0:02am] [Edited 3/23/10 2:03am]

Between those Prince-penned songs, she tells "Do you like the sea?" in Japanese. Don't know what it exactly means but I like that words are placed there. [Edited 3/27/10 22:16pm]
