I have had this track @8 on my hd for months and had yet to even hear it. Honestly, I love the Family because I love Prince and wasn't all that excited about the prospect of a reunion. Just listened and...wow! It's really good. I never would have thought there could be a "classic" Family sound, but this song achieves something like it. Great song, terrible name (F-Deluxe!), imo.

Remember that the clip of "@8" you have is a rough mix. I watched and heard Jellybean lay down live drums for it, as well as Eric putting down other horn parts throughout. Paul also added adlibs in the latter part of the song. The final cut will be much more band oriented sounding than the rough mix that is on the website.

"Vigil" will make you forget .....nah. I won't say it. But it will.

"Drummers and Healers" is beyond incredible. Susannah's husband, Doyle Bramhall II, did the guitar work on it. I watched him lay down his solo IN ONE TAKE! Paul said, "We got it, you're not doing it again." I think they did one other take for the sake of preservation, but the first take is what you're going to hear on the album. It was a Sunday morning, and Paul and Doyle are just sitting in the garage, working on this song, and like breathing air, Doyle plays this solo and other parts without a bit of effort. It was then that I truly believed in how talented and underrated Doyle is as a guitarist. Once you hear this track in full, you will never forget it.

There's one other song, I forget the name, that's just as catchy and fun as "@8".

Paul has been touring a few dates with Oleta Adams. He was in Japan around the first of the year w/ her. He is back and working on the album, as well as juggling his teaching duties. He teaches sound production, etc in the old Flyte Tyme studios in Minnesota. Most of the album's production has taken place at Paul's home studio (which is really nice), or at Susannah and Doyle's house in California. I think they have done some of the work at the old Flyte Tyme studios, while teaching a class (two birds one stone). It was fun to watch him show these young folks how to do things, all while directing Jellybean or Eric in their takes for the album.

There will be an instrumental on the album too, I believe, staying in the vein of the first Family album. No idea what the album will be called, but I do believe it will be released by summer at the very latest. Paul says it's over 90% done.

Totally hyped for this.

I am excited about this one too. The new name of the band is horrible tho...really wish they'd reconsider that one...
