Morris Day - Two Drink Minimum

http://www.youtube.com/wa...XtKZXJZMa0

This slept-on jam from Morris's 2005 solo CD "Its About Time" would slam in the clubs TODAY if it were getting played.
This song makes me wanna go get one of those Steve Harvey suits and some Staceys and slide into the clubs with a valet and a mirror. lol
Who else digs this cut?

This was a bad CD. Most of it is live Time tracks that are edited poorly and scrambled in the wrong order. They even bleeped out curse words. Just horrible. The new studio cuts sound like an old artist (Morris) in the studio with some young hip hop producers trying to sound young and get on the radio. I have loved the Time since I saw them live in 1982 - this was a great disappointment

Wow. So much hate for one little song? I think its jammin' and it doesn't sound like anything on the radio now or in 2005. It still has that same basic Time?M Day feel to it with just more modern sounds on the drums and keys.

thats just the issue

those "modern" drums and keys are weak as hell.

It is a bit catchy, but it sounds like a demo. The keys are barely there (mainly just synth bass and strings) and the little synth fills at the end sound really cheap and crappy (kinda like me trying to play a Time song on a modern keyboard!)

If we are admitting to guilty pleasures then I like "In my ride" from the same cd.

I like this song and the one mentioned above, if that's the one with E4 or whatever his name is. They're fun, catchy songs. cool

The new songs on Its about time are Ok, not as good as the Time stuff or his first two solo cds, but better than Guaranteed

Well, I like the song. I didn't say it was the best thing he's done but I like it better than most of the stuff that's out on the charts right now - that's for sure.
I don't expect Morris to go back to the dated gated drums and reverbated clap sounds. Like any other artist, he should be given the space to grow his sound according to advances in technology. I think with this cut, he found a healthy balance of retaining the essence of his sound while not sounding too dated and not sounding like someone else. That's just my opinion.

Its the simple. After laying down classics like the first 2 Time albums and even the first 2 solo albums, Morris Day should be ashamed of this CD.

It always amazes me that Morris never sung before Prince made him leader of The Time. He sung over Prince already recorded vocals....I don't think he turned out to be a bad singer at all.....
eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince
