She said "WOW 1986 was a long time ago..."

I remember this.

Wow! I think all that hairspary now has its very own ozone hole.

I heard that it was Eddie M. (the alto player) who was the "stage director" for this band and also the Purple Rain tour. He's responsible for all those poppin' moves and choreography, etc.

Great arrangement of the song, and the first time I've seen her play a timbales solo during it!

I remember this too. Didn't she do "Merci ..." after that? My favorite live version of A Love Bizarre (without Prince) was on Saturday Night Live, I believe Sheila picked up a bass guitar and played it during that one.

I remember watching this and loving it. I've always liked this version better than the SNL one. Actually, the SNL appearance was kind of silly with the guitar fiasco.

Sheila returned to the Tonight Show about a year later to perform her SOTT drum solo on the show (and flirt with guest host Jay Leno) in promotion of the movie.

This one misses a couple of seconds, but the quality is a little better.

Steph's solo during this performance is great.

Ernests, Got a question for you, do you know the deal on why Eddie M. was fired from Sheila's band? I thought this cat was very talented back in the day. He was to Sheila what Jerome was to Morris. I honestly feel he should have been a part of the extended Revolution especially after the "America" video. All I know is on "Data Bank" you hear Prince say, "Leave Eddie". What's the E true Hollywood story? tv

I suppose only Eddie, or Sheila, or Prince, could answer that question.

Personally, I think Eric Leeds was a lot more talented than Eddie. Eddie sounded like a 9th grader taking marching band for his 2nd year and trying to be in a rock band at the same time.

True, Eric Leeds is more talented, but you have to admit, their musical chemistry was great on "America". Ernest, the horn arrangements on the live version was the sh@#t! biggrin Ernenst, even you have to agree, that the live version of "America" is truly FUNKY!

I never said it wasn't. I just don't like Eddie M. playing in general. Eddie wasn't a part of the Revolution, and perhaps for a good reason.

WOW is right!
Its been a while since I've seen that. More proof that Prince and company peaked sometime in the late 80's
Musically very little new stuff has come even close to shit like this. The music and band was just smoking.

The only thing is, once it starts playing, I have to watch the whole thing.

Same with the SOTT movie and Lovesexy88, my brain can't eat only one segment, so forget about whatever I should've been doing instead. err
