I love this song. I think there isn't much to ponder. Seems to me like it's face value. Great song.

It's about the conflicting feelings people often have when falling in love.

Sometimes it sounds like the title of the song 'Here' reflects his feeling that... even tho they may be or have been apart, he feels this love 'here' right now... even when they're not together.

Not really sure how he goes about song making so I can't prove this point. Does he name the song first then write the lyrics, vice versa or mix it up? Prince is a fine mystery because lots of explanations probably hit on part of it...or none of it. We just can't know for sure
