So you know how Tony M is awesome, right? And his contribution to Diamonds and Pearls and 0{+> really defined the sound of that era?

Well, I was thinking how cool it would be if I made a compilation of some of the great tracks that feature him, including stuff from Goldnigga. Too bad he wasn't on Exodus, I kinda missed him.

Was Tony M really that bad, or was it just the fact that he was with prince? I actually thought he rapped pretty well.

Although Tony Ml was far from a rapgenius he wasn't as bad as people wanna make u believe

I can probably list another 30 CLASSIC rap albums from just those three years, but I think everyone gets it. Almost EVERY rap artist putting out records back then was better than Tony M. By leaps and bounds.

And no - not every rap artists was better from that time. Like most people you forget all the crap that was released right alongside the good stuff.

We weren't discussing hip hop - we were discussing bad rap..right? They aren't the same thing. Princes stuff was not even close to hip hop - it was his stuff with "rap" on top of it. The Goldnigga stuff was like old Tower of Power mostly.

Yeah dude I heard most of these albums , but still man, Tony M wasn't making no solo hip hop shit, he was rapping for 10 seconds on a prince track, the shit was allowed to be corny or funny, look at the raps before him, Cat & Sheila E. etc. In that respect Tony M. wasn't that bad, he served his purpose, he wasn't good but he wasn't terrible either.
