New Years's eve 2009 Atlanta Time review

I went and saw the Time at the Peach Drop in Atlanta, Ga on December 31, 2009. This was my third show this year and my 52nd overall.

I got up at 8 a.m(mornings suck), finished packing and got on the road a little after 9 a.m. This was a solo trip , No Jason(Pud!!!),Ashley or anybody else for that matter. The day was cold and overcast. Somehow I missed my usual exit that I gas up and grab lunch in Montgomery on my trips to Atlanta and got off in Shorter(Shorter than what?, Shorter than Who?), AL to refuel. The bathroom was real nice(NOT!!!) I rank it a 7.5 on the scuzzy scale. Got back on the road and drove in a constant fog and drizzle all the way to Atlanta. I was making excellent time even with the never ending road construction that you hit around Newnan. I got to my exit in a little under 5 hours and that's when I messed up. I was suppose to go straight and I took a left. Well it took me 45 minutes to get back to that spot. I can't help it if every road in Atlanta is named Peach Tree.

I pulled into the hotel and it was packed out. Turns out one of the teams from the Chick filla bowl was staying there. Got checked in and went and made the call to see what time lobby was. Wandered around the hotel, met up with some of the fellas. Ate and hung out. Went back to the room and got ready for the show. Came down and met up with the band. Caught up with the fellas and then rode with them to the venue.

The guys were kind enough to introduce me to their friends and family that came to the show. A few others that I already knew made the show as well and we caught up. Hung out and visited with the fellas. Morris was doing a meet and greet and taking pictures with fans. Finally it was Showtime

Here is the line up

Let's just say it was cold. Every time I go up to Atlanta it seems to be freezing. I don't know why they call it hot lanta. Maybe its cause I'm from Florida. Whatever. I got a spot back stage lined up with Monte and Bean, but I could still see Morris and Freeze up front as well. The Dat intro played snippets of their biggest hits along with parts of Morris's dialog from Purple Rain and Graffiti Bridge. Skillet was a rockin' opening which flowed into Cool and Get it up. The funky duo of Pandemonium and Chocolate was next. Morris asked "What Time is it?" which cued Wild and Loose. The Stick was next followed by two of my favorites: Blondie and My Drawers. Back stage they were frantically trying to get the band to stop playing as it was almost midnight. They finally stopped with only a minute to spare. The band came off stage and the countdown to 2010 began. They dropped the Peach and then fireworks went off for a good 5 minutes or so.

The band came back to the stage with Morris's two biggest solo hits: Fishnet and the Oak Tree. The Time's biggest hit followed with Jerk Out. Another highlight of the night was 777-9311. Steam was coming off Bean as he played that beat like no other. Tori laid down a kick ass solo. Morris left the stage. The band played a short instrumental of Girl. Morris sang one verse of Sometimes I get Lonely from back stage. He was like 3 feet away from me when he did it. Too Cool. The man returned to the stage for the player's anthem of Gigolos get lonely too. The ladies were brought on stage for If the kid can't make you come and Ice Cream Castles. The Walk was next and The Bird closed the normal portion of the show. The band came back for an encore of Jungle love. The show was a little over 90 minutes total.

We went back stage and hung out for awhile. Good times. Then it was back to the hotel for more food and drink. Now I'm at the bar trying to get a drink and some frat boy asked me if I was in Widespread Panic. Did I reek of petiole oil? Must have been the Hendrix shirt. WTF.

I can't think of a better way to ring in the new year. A kick ass show and then hanging out with the nicest and coolest bunch of guys I know. Mad props to the fellas for their continued hospitality and friendship. I hope to continue my adventures with the baddest band in the land for many years to come.[img][/img][img][/img]
