Love for "Song About" (Wendy & Lisa) and the White Flags Album!

I am listening to Wendy and Lisa for the first time--their self-titled first album and Eroica... I am blown away by their musical, vocal, and songwriting talents! The song "Song About" is so full of charm, harmony, melody, and a wistful yearning... I heard this was written about the break-up with Prince...he was a fool to let these multi-talented ladies slip away from future collaborations! What great talent...more than any of his neophyte nymphettes ever showed in their tiny perfectly formed pickies! You Rock Wendy and Lisa! biggrin Does anyone else love "Song About" as much as I do? What other Wendy and Lisa songs are your favorites and why?

My absolute favorite Wendy & Lisa song is "Stay" from their first (self-titled) album. "Stay" is soulful, melodic, & heartfelt. I remember the first time that I heard that song (when the album first came out). I just couldn't get past it! I listened to that song over & over again for about an hour! The smooth guitar solo near the end of the song is amazing! To this day, "Stay" is one of my favorite songs of ALL time! I love it that much! No matter what I may be doing, when that song comes on my iPod, I immediately stop what I am doing, sit back, and enjoy it. It's as if I'm incapable of doing anything else when that song comes on!

When Wendy & Lisa sang back-up for Prince u couldn't really tell if they were good singers cos they just sang along with the chorus. Lisa sang in a high voice e.g Raspberry Beret and when they sing their own songs u realise they both have vocal ability that goes further than what they showed when they worked with Prince. When I heard 'Don't try to tell me' I was shocked at how good Lisa sounded. She sings that song with real emotion and it's one of my fave W&L songs.

Even if they just did the chouruses, the girls also added a lot to "I Would Die 4 U", "Let's Go Crazy", "Anotherloverholeinyohead" "Purple Rain", "Sometimes It Snows In April" and if you wanna talk about goin further than singin hooks, some of their best ideas became one of his best albums "Sign O The Times"

"it's ashamed that no one stayed at the end of the Parade" - obvious

"'Beautiful' you said, the way you shook your head" - reference to one of the last concerts on the Hit N Run Tour.

I love that song and also "Everything But U". The bassline in that is sick! The lyrics are also top notch!
If it breaks when it bends, U better not put it in!

The bassline in Honeymoon Express is sooooo funky!!! cool That girl can play a bass!
Prince may be the purple Yoda, but Wendy & Lisa and Eric Leeds also sit on the Jedi Council.

Just heard White Flags for the first time. Lovely moody music with sensitive but not schmaltzy lyrics--luv Invisible, I'm Free, and Sweet Suite--I hope W & L don't wait 10 more years to put out another album! biggrin

I love the first album above all others. The production is beautiful, some of the songs are moving as hell. 'The Life' is one of my favourite songs of all time.

Lisa is always the better singer and to this day she sings better than Wendy. Wendy's voice improves over the years but still Lisa is hand down the best singer. Even Prince acknowledge Lisa have a good voice. I wished Lisa sings more solo songs its shame that as talent voice she has she preferred to have it hidden 'in her apartment'. No offense to Wendy, but I would love for Lisa to release a solo album just this once with her voice and piano and producing skills. cool
