I love Tevin Campbell, but Prince's version is better. I like his other work with Tevin better such as Halls of Desire smile

You know what? I always hoped that this is original
by Tevin. I didn't wanted to believe Prince
did this tune. It would have made me dizzy if I
just thought about it's by P himself.
This is such a masterpiece of art.
And now I'm twirled. Prince is unbelievable.
Always thought only Prince can write things like that and
in such a way and even though I had this hope.
I'm crazy I know
lol

well actually this WAS the original. Unlike the song given to Chaka Khan which was a remake this song was written by Prince and given to Tevin Campbell to record. Then Prince recorded it himself doing a better job.
Some say the same thing happened with Nothing Compares by Sinead Occonnor bit I happen to like SO version better. boxed

My favorite version of that song will always be the live version Prince did in Argentina in 1990 and during the Nude tour. Very passionate, just Prince on the piano, no background singers, no duet. I never liked the duet with Rosie Gaines or the newer and insencere sounding versions, and I never liked Sinead´s version but that is probably because I can´t stand her.

Family version is best imo. Never liked Princes voice out front on that one.

I would love to hear this version you are speaking of. That sounds like the way the song was supposed to be sung. I never liked the Rosie duet version either.
