I always hear people say how Mayte can't sing, ect. I think she's got a good voice. I don't understand why she didn't go farther in her career as a singer. I know she's prob a better dancer/actress but with her look ect she could have gone far in that direction. What do you all think?

her voice is not really knew to be a good voice. But she can sing... just like she did on interactive, few times back in the good old days.
But she tried 2 defend & promote her album in europe in 1995.. even if it was not live. She performed.
She's probably better in backing vocals...

I think prince had a better confidence in mayte than he has in bria.!! He doesn't let bria be onstage by herself... That means a lots of things.....

I think Mayte is a dancer, similar to the Jennifer Lopez concept. Her version of the most beautiful boy in the world is not very good vocally. Prince sings with her on this whole album.

so in other words she could have a great pop career...I'm just sayin'

I think Mayte can hold a note. I was slightly impressed with "If I Love U Tonight". And her background vocal on "One Of Us" were pretty good. I think she is like Lisa. Some singers sing better when in the background but can't lead. Like Lisa does very good background but she doesn't sound too good doing lead. Susan Rogers agrees.

Comparing her to other Prince girls, I'd say she was better than some of them. She's as good as most of the name artists out there right now. The way music is produced today her voice is more than good enough to have hits.

I like her voice, especially on Race, One of Us and The Love We Make. It complimented Prince's voice extremely well!

i liked her songs a lot!

I think Mayte is better than some of Prince's other girls throughout the years. I kinda dig her CD and will pop it in now and then. Not great, but decent. Hell, she sings better than I do.
