side projects, how much involved and proof Hey,looking through the booklet of Romance 1600, it mentions that Prince performs guitar and bass on secene 3 and 4 and background vocals on scenes 3 and 5.
My question is this, how much of the album was Prince really involved in? Was it more than these songs? Furthermore, concerning The Time albums, especially the first one. It is generally agreed that Prince wrote and performed most of the material except for the vocals (even at times it sounds like Prince singing). Where exactly is this stated? Has Prince or the band said that he was involved so much? Thanks

Prince wrote and played everything on the Time albums. Hell, Jill Jones ain't sitting down and playing everything herself. Stuff he gave Sheila E and Jill Jones were outtakes from recording sessions he had done. "The Glamorous Life" was meant for Apollonia 6, but he gave it to Sheila E. instead. I think by the time Romance 1600 came out, people knew he was behind things, and he let his name out there a bit more. He pretty much had to when he dueted with her on "A Love Bizarre" and "Yellow". There's a library full of outtakes of Prince's versions of these songs, like "Mutiny", "High Fashion", "Desire", "Manic Monday", "Chocolate", etc etc. Do you not know that "The Starr * Company" and "Jamie Starr" are all covers for Prince?

Use this as your go-to site as to what are known Prince compositions: http://www.princevault.co..._song_list
Looks like only Merci for the Speed of a Mad Clown in Summer from Romance 1600 has not been proven to be Prince penned. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.
