Dear IAintTheOne I've been a fan and since 1979 but OK Apologies if this is the wrong 'damn' forum however I didn't realise that there was a more suitable one and that you were a serious authority on all things Prince and associated artists. I would However like to check that you were aware of an interesting fact and whether you may consider Lady T to be associated to Prince, You maybe aware that Lady T opened for Prince on his Dirty Mind tour in 1980and in her band was a backing singer who was her cousin and her name was..... Jill Jones. You may not have heard of Jill Jones but she was a backing singer for Prince and appeared in a film he released call 'Purple Rain'. She also featured in his video for 1999 and sang joint lead. In 1987 Prince produced Jill's debut album. Jill Jones' mother also managed Teena Marie at one point so perhaps you can let me know if I am really off the mark in believing that she is in fact...an Associated Artist. I stand to be corrected and just to help you along, Dictionary.com define associated as:- 'a person who shares actively in anything as a business, enterprise, or undertaking; partner; colleague; fellow worker' I would think that supporting a tour means you are a colleague. I hope you foundd the above helpful as there are a wealth of facts about Prince which date back beyond The Gold Experience. Anyway back to the point, I am really Looking forward to the gig and also to your further comments on the correct placing of this post .....

If you allow Teena Marie threads in this forum then you have to allow Celine Dion threads here too. Rembmer Prince wrote and/or produced some tracks for her back in 1992.

Rule of thumb is that Associated are folks like Wendy and lisa, Brownmark, Mayte, Taja Sevelle, Jill Jones, that guy in the scrubs, Morris Day, the Family, The Time, Bria I Can't Sing Valente, etc etc. Usually those that have worked directly with Prince (or fucked him in some cases), not those inspired by him, or worked with someone who once knew Prince on tour or something.

I really wouldn't want to upset the forum's 'balance' nor any jobsworths, This whole episode is kinda humourous and in a way is a microcosm of the recent years of Prince fandom- it's easy (ironically) to get distracted by things other than the music.
