How "official" their engagement was is unclear, I think--I have no idea if they had rings, set a date, any of that. But I've heard Pete Escovedo (Sheila's father) say (at one of Sheila's La Va Lee concerts from a few years back), "And to think Prince was almost my son-in-law." Of course, maybe that was just a joke from him and not really meaningful.

As for Sheila and Cat, there seems to be no love lost between them, so maybe jealousy and anger are the reason.

I don't think engagement would have meant any sort of monogamy for Prince, anyway. When he was engaged to Susannah, he was messing around quite a bit, and Sheila certainly didn't hesitate to fondle his junk right on stage during that time.

I read an interview where Sheila E. confirmed that she was engaged to Prince in 1988.She said that the marriage never happened because Prince "had too many other women around",and wasn't truly ready to settle down (surprise,surprise...lol)

I wish I still had that interview...it was from the 90s.If I find it,I will post it here.
