Extensive interview (march 2009): WENDY & LISA

The Art and Business of Song, WENDY & LISA

USC Annenberg, March 30, 2009

Ann Powers in Conversation with Wendy & Lisa. (lasts 1:28:00)
Talk followed by Q&A with audience.

Wendy and Lisa have interesting things to say about the music industry, many funny anecdotes, and they are both great ladies/ cool musicians.

I'm glad some of you managed to see the ARTE (French TV) documentary Doctor Prince & Mister Jackson, and lived through the French commentary.

Unfortunately, this show was just deleted. sad But you can still enjoy watching Lisa and Wendy's interview. biggrin

Interesting at the 50 min mark where they mention how they didn't get enough credit for their work with Prince in the 80's. I disagree that it was because they were women though. Prince didn't let anyone get their proper shine, period. I didn't realize that they worked with Terrance Trent D'Arby. Anyone know what song it is?

when you go back and look at a lot of pop/rock music legends such as Prince, and listen to what his bandmates and associates have to say, you usually end up listening to the artist's history by a lot of people a whole lot less articulate and even kinda unsavory.

I think Prince is lucky to have had associated with such amazing talented people as Wendy & Lisa and Alan Leeds and so many others who all have made such positive impact themselves, but also to his legacy whenever they speak.

I've seen Prince albums that list Wendy & Lisa as contributors, what songs are they saying they weren't credited on?

I thought I'd revive this thread to put it back into the forum.
