Break-ups

I know why certain people left P's camp (like members of The Time, The Family & The Revolution) but there are some others that I never heard stories on like Sheila E., Jill Jones, Susan Moonsie & Brenda Bennet. Does any1 know what happened w/P & some of the other associates?

Jill Jones got sick of his shit and pursued solo careers that included her own album, modeling, working with artist such as Chic
Susan Moonsie and Brenda Bennet got married and moved on
Paul Peterson cut ties to pursue a solo career
Sheila E is still very close with P but does her own musical thing.

Brenda was already married to LeRoy at the time she was in Vanity 6. Roy talked about the plus and minuses of his wife working in the business, and ending up in lingerie in front of 20,000 people at a time. They divorced years later, I believe.

Sheila and P had a falling out at one point, I believe, although it might have been short lived. I remember back then, the rumor was about real estate or something. I had a friend in the Navy who knew the Escovedos, and sort of mentioned it. A Prince.orger that I knew in the Navy as well told me it was a real estate thing between them, but I have never heard yay or nay to that.

Rosie left because she wasn't getting the break she wanted and discussed w/ Prince. She came back around 1999, but left again after just not being paid properly (a repeat story by many).

Boni left because she and Prince had huge fights by the time Lovesexy was rolling around. They used to walk from backstage to the stage cursing and yelling at each other. "You just shut up!" "Fuck you, YOU shut the fuck up!" sort of thing. She wasn't afraid to give it to him. Fink confirmed the vitriol between each other.

Fink left because he had just had enough of the gig. I never got the feeling from him that there was any ill will. It was just time to go. And he did fine for himself after the fact.

Didn't Brenda remarry though?

Also wasn't that real estate fiasco having to do with a property for Sheila's parents (business deal).

Yeah Boni and P used to get into it. Wonder if that's why he didn't attend her funeral? Unresolved issues.

some of this shit before my time but wutevs. giggle

Prince never attended anyone's funeral, so "issues" probably did not play into that sort of choice to not attend a funeral. I don't remember him being at Big Chick's either, but he did have that benefit for her family once Boni died; and did the same w/ Big Chick's too I believe.

I never got any clear revelation on the real estate thing, one way or the other, so I just don't know. I wish I did.

Brenda might have remarried, but that was long after she left Apollonia 6. I do believe her and Roy divorced a few years ago. Shame, after all that time together, then it's just over. Eh. Her and Leroy were married for a very long time, including a good stint of time past her working w/ Prince. Roy might have even went on to design lighting for Prince after that time period, I'm not sure. I thought he did for the SOTT movie at least. I forget if he was on the Lovesexy tour or not.

I know Sheila E was/is very close to Gilbert Davison who "owned" Glam Slam and that there was an issue in 1995 of who was to take control of it. Gilbert ended up with the club minus the Glam Slam name and all of the Paisley Park employees were given the boot out of the building. Sheila was in Minneapolis often with Gilbert after that. Not sure if that had anything to do with her and Prince's temporary separation...

Two very different issues. The Shiela E thing was before the selling of Glam Slam.

What year/years are you talking about? Glam Slam was never sold.

Okay ....when it ceased to be Glam Slam is what I meant. By 1997 it was The Quest, because I saw The Time there, and it wasn't Glam Slam anymore. I was also there in about 1993 or so, and it was still Glam Slam. Didn't the switch happen around 1995 or so?

I believe it was the summer of 95. Glam Slam closed and it reopened as the Quest a couple months later, with all things Prince gone (the symbol on the floor, his face on the columns, ...). I was just wondering when Sheila and him fell out over this property "deal"?

Didn't Warners pulling the plug on Paisley Park have a lot to do with dispersing a lot of the artist of that time period. Jill Jones was working on new music under Paisley Park and even made a music video for 'Boom Boom'. Carmen Electra also mentioned she was working on a second CD that never materialized. Seems like everyone that was signed at the time either got dumped or found someplace else to record.
When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!
