Rosie Gaines - Concrete Jungle

Found some threads about a pre-order for this unreleased cd. Was it ever released? Because there is no info on the site anymore.

What are peoples impressions?>

I also read that the cd was available 2 order on her site 4 a short period. I`ve checked many times plus ebay etc but cant find anything.Maybe was just a myth or plain bullshit!! I would love 2 hear this album as Rosie is my favorite Prince vocalist. I think it was his failed promise 2 release this album that caused Rosie 2 quit the NPG. Would also love 2 hear the Symbol album with the Rosie vocals that Prince erased!!

I saw that on her site a couple months ago too, that you could pre-order it. All of the songs that were on it have already been released though. Rosie was still recording for Concrete Jungle in at least Dec. 1993, so that wasn't the reason for her quitting the NPG.

Throughout 1992 and 1993,Rosie Gaines was working on her Paisley Park debut solo album 'Concrete Jungle'.It was finally completed in late 1993 and was given a release date (March 22,1994).Unfortunately,Warner Bros. shut down Paisley Park Records at the beginning of '94,leaving Rosie without a label. In a 1995 interview, she bitterly explained what was going on."My album wasn't released because I wasn't sleeping with Prince",she said, obviously referring to all the attention and promotional money (over $2 million) that was used to launch the career of Carmen Elektra.

Although several different tracklists are floating around,it is believed that this is the final tracklist of Rosie's album.

Try Me (4:46)
Lost In The Wilderness (3:12)
Slow Man (5:33)
Swing Hard (2:48)
I Almost Lost U (2:37)
Concrete Jungle (7:48)
December 25th (3:56)
Do What You Want Me To Do (5:51)
Crazy Mutha Funky (3:43)
Greatest Touch (3:12)
My Tender Heart (5:07)
Play The Beat (3:27)
Turn Your Lights Down Low (4:29)
(a remake of the Bob Marley classic)
Jah Love (3:49)
We The People (1:31)
Poor Little Girl (6:25)

No,Rosie quit the NPG before she even started recording this album. The plan was always for her to go solo and in 1992,she negotiated a solo deal with Paisley Park Records. The 'Concrete Jungle' album is no myth,it really exists. It was supposed to be released on March 22,1994 but,as you know,Warners shut down Paisley Park Records a few months before that date.Rosie got caught in the middle of Prince's feud with Warners. She signed with Motown and released an album 'Closer Than Close' but it was drastistically different than the 'Concrete Jungle' project.
