I saw Madonna's 1991 documentary film Truth or Dare on TV recently. You know the bit where Madonna meets some famous stars backstage after one of her concerts. There's Kevin Costner who calls Madonna's performance "neat". Also there is Olivia Newton John and Lionel Richie. A woman gives Madonna a hug, it looks like either Sheila E or Vanity. It's difficult to tell because she is wearing dark glasses. She is only on screen for a couple of seconds. I thought it maybe Sheila seeing as Lionel was there and they are related. Can anyone confirm if it is Sheila or Vanity?

The first time I saw the movie I thought that too! (That it was Sheila, not Vanity.) Glad I'm not the only one.

Anyway, on closer inspection, I believe it was actually one of the Pointer Sisters, not anyone from the Minneapolis family.

Also, Sheila and Lionel aren't related. She played in his band, and his daughter, Nicole, is the biological daughter of Sheila's brother.

That was indeed sheila.

Now I'm kinda back in the "It's Sheila" camp. It makes perfect sense that she would be there with Lionel. Looks a helluva lot like her too. I think it is her. To make it easier for everyone to judge, here's the clip; it's at 5:50.

Anyway...I remember asking this question back on the Prodigy board in the early '90s, and someone told me it was a Pointer Sister, which I've believed ever since. But these two screen captures from the vid look a lot more like Sheila than any Pointer.

The woman in the video is not thick, has Sheila's jawline and eyebrows and smile, is wearing a Sheila-type outfit (a camisole under a jacket), and looks like Sheila, which the screen caps show. How are they misleading?

My findings?
I think that although this person does look like Sheila it does appear to be someone a bit darker.
