Song About-Wendy & Lisa I can't stop playin this song since I found it yesterday. I heard and love the music the girls did after Prince with Seal, and the scores for "Dangerous Minds" and "Soul Food", but this is another trip altogether....

thanks for that. Love the tunes, but sinceI randomize my music daily..it had been a while. Now I'm going to put their whole library in rotation.I feel they got slighted by an industry that loosened up and stated putting a push behind intelligent female bands in the mid 90s. They got left in the dust. Glad they are still making music.

"so strange that no one stayed at the end of the parade..." "...literal people are scary, man literal people scare me out there trying to rid the world of its poetry while getting it wrong fundamentally down at the church of "look, it says right here, see!" - ani difranco

That's, of course, a direct reply to the breakup of the Revolution.
It makes me want to cry Thinking about you “Beautiful” you said The way you shook your head This is about one of the last, if not THE last, concerts by The Revolution on the Hit N Run Tour. It was after "Sometimes It Snows In April" or something, and Prince was moved by the song, and Wendy's playing (or something close to that....been a while since I've read the story) So strange, that no one stayed At the end of the parade Obviously....breakup of the Revolution after the Parade album This is just another song about it This is just another song about Standing next to me Imagine that it’s true You where singing songs About life or doom I was singing songs to you I found this the most personal lyric in the song. She's flat out saying that while Prince was singing about love or the end of the world (a la "1999", etc), that she was singing to him, because both girls loved him so much as a friend, music partner, brother, etc. This is just another song about it This is just another song about I gave colors to you For me, this is an line that directly calls out the story Prince used to tell about W&L adding "color" to his songs; Prince even used to talk about how Lisa could play two notes with one finger - she just hit so many keys and made the most beautiful chords You washed my heart With many dreams Dreams I’d never seen The pain of my spirit The pain of my heart Don’t ever tell me To let it all go This is just another song about it This is just another song about…

I wonder if this line is in connection with that album. You where singing songs About life or doom I was singing songs to you

I have this album and "Song About" is one of my favorite songs by Wendy and Lisa. It's a great song "written by a couple of great girls" (remember how Wendy said that line in Purple Rain?). Love those girls.

I always thought the line about "Beautiful, you said" referred to the song "The Beautiful Ones" which I think was about Susannah, Wendy's twin, so in effect he was saying they are both beautiful.

My all-time favorite song by the ladies. “When I give food to the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why the poor have no food, they call me a Communist.” Brazilian bishop Dom Hélder Câmara

Read what I wrote. It's about the Hit N Run tour. The show in question has been well documented, and W&L has even said that "beautiful" was about the concert. They're not referencing some 3 or 4 year old song.

I heard this song on an obscure radio station waay baack in the day - this song was the reason why I bought their first LP -
GOD I miss the days when I'd save my teenage money from working at McDonald's take the bus downtown in the hood to buy Wendy and Lisa, Jill Jones, Sheila and Prince records - oh the joys of vinyl.

My number one favorite by W&L. Along with "Stay", that tune has been on consistent rotation in my music collection since it first came out
