Brownmark Q&A BMark did a facebook Q&A tonight here are some highlights. Enjoy!
"I use to call it practice but was quickly corrected. Practice is what amateurs do!" "With so much rehearsal we were bound to start coming up with tracks and didn't realize it. P was the smart one because he started tapeing rehearsals" "Computer blue went from serious jam to a song B 4 we knew what happened." "Most of the tracks r 100% Prince. His mind worked round the clock" "We were his instruments he was the true master mind behind all that sound" "I remember once taking lunch break in the lunch room with my bass in one hand and a sandwich in the other" "We do keep in touch" - about P "All day, All Night was a jam. Like I said earlier. P has an archive of stuff we did. When it goes from jam to a song, we're usually not around" "Cant remember that far back as to your question about what was recorded at the house. We've recorded many many tracks" "Mazarati was a group of high school friends i put together. I lived vicariously through them. It is what i wanted to do for my self." "My favorite jam was America! Also, baby I'm a Star" "Every night we were never supprised with P. We all would feed off each other and he would feed off the fans" "I'm putting together a site with all the recordings that I have rights to for down load. I'll keep U posted" "I will never right about P because he's my friend. If he wants his personal life in the streets he'll put it there himself" "there was a lot of soul and heart in Maz. They lived the life and the life style took them down." "The only book I'll write is one I've been working on since I was 18. Life in a Purple Kingdom. It's a book about how a young man right out of High School hits fame and fortune."

B Mark did end the Q&A saying he had fun and is gonna do it again using a different method! I don't think he was able to answer all the ?'s posted during the hr or so time frame on facebook. As short as it was it was still great to have him open up and answer a few ?'s! Can't wait for round 2!
Wonder why blackguitarist wasn't around...hmmmmm?!

that comment That comment is pretty much the exact opposite of what everyone else from the camp has said including Lisa, Wendy, Michael Bland, Sonny, Levi, Andre, etc... Someone's kissing a little purple ass if you ask me.

In the sense that Prince was the sourse of 'Purple Music' I agree, but many other brought stuff that was outside of Prince's musical knowledge and it either hurt of helped him, No doubt Lisa brought something nasty jazzy and classical to the table, she had a lot of time working with Prince as far as recording and creating, much more that BrownMark, But he dropped some deep comments, the jam sessions that turn to recordings, I don't believe Prince has had that since the noituloveRRevolution. I think he had a degree of it with the SOTT band, they were touring more than hanging out and did some similar stuff during the aftershows... Prince is the man, but he did loose something when the Time, Sheila E, Mico, Wendy Susannah Lisa, the Revolution, Eric Leads, Jill Jones became the banished ones

I don't think B Mark was kissin' up...I think he was probably being"realistic"in ways the other former bandmates haven't!Those arguments that Prince stole this...Prince stole that....hasn't diminished his legacy! Granted I'm sure with the amount chords, grooves and etc....comming out at rehearsals P heard things that inspired him! I'm sure he allowed band members to embelish, add their flavor to his ideas. I mean he had 2-3 projects, goin all at one time. Writing and recording for them all. He had to be inspired. If it wasn't for P would we even pay attention to W&L, Andre,Sonny, etc.? NO! They each were good for 1-2 releases @ best!
Given his vast catalog of tunes...can those individuals honestly point to a tune and say "this is mine!"? BMark did say "When it goes from jam to a song, we're usually not around". also neither of the former band mates have been able to duplicate the level of music they claim P "borrowed"! This doesn't lessen their talent any. But i think for years to generate some pub for themselves they made these claims.

I don't think Mark was saying that nobody else contributed to the sound....but clearly the vision is all Princey. Princey invented the recipe and everybody else chipped in with the ingredients...it's still his gatdayum cake!

I love that... he still has a good friendship with P. Whoever said P does not have close friends?

It sounds good to fanbots who believe the rhetoric the WB marketing machine pushed for years on end to milk money from the fans. Look, its like this: if someone hires you to play music and you play it, you have contributed to the creation of the song. It doesn't matter how much output you have in the past or what your own personal track record is. People love to play semantics and hero worship but in reality, the TRUTH is what it is. There aren't different interpretations of the truth - anyone who says that is trying to confuse (i.e, LIE TO) someone. The semantics come into play when legal/money issues come up. By the way, if Mark Brown is not around when it goes from a jam to a song, how can he possibly know who else is or isn't? I'm just saying.

"Ah, so everyone else is lying and Mark Brown is telling the truth? Yeah, right"- outsiders will probably debate this forever. but was is known is that for all the "we did this.."by former band members....their catalog of work after Prince falls waaay short of the their " so called claims.." The work speaks for itself. I'll give Andre his props for his Jody Watley productions....outside of that...snooze on everyone else except for Jam & Lewis(they never made claims of P stealing from them)!
"People love to play semantics and hero worship but in reality, the TRUTH is what it is. " - Maybe some do.....i don't! Fact is you rarely hear Matt, Mark or Bobby back up "these claims.."! Matt and Bobby were there the longest...then Lisa then Mark....i'm not saying they didn't contribute....but they played their position....they had some moments I'm sure.... "By the way, if Mark Brown is not around when it goes from a jam to a song, how can he possibly know who else is or isn't?"- Well he's in a better position than fanbots to say who was or wasn't around! "WB marketing machine pushed for years on end to milk money from the fans." - funny no one ever finds it interesting that it's always certain band members who always make themselves "available",with the same ol song, for P stories...but others(Dez,Matt,Mark,Bobby, etc) are absent...

It's amazing that any members of the Revolution or Prince's camp talk to the fans at all. since the initial response is to question every word they say as either "lies" or "ass-kissing". It's no wonder Prince is putting so much distance between him and his fan base. Wendy & Lisa did the "Salt & Cherries(MC5)" video with the fans and it got bashed beyond belief on here. If everyone asking for more fan interaction is just going to dispute everything the artist does or says then don't expect it to last. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!
