Prince voice cameos in Time albums

I know it sounds dumbass, but is it really Prince doing funny voice cameos on The Time and What time is it. The songs I think he does speak are

The Walk "B4 u get a chance 2 holler stop" and "Ain't nothing like a fresh pair of baggies" also "Morris, introduce us to the lovely lady (Who I think is Vanity or Susan?)"
Get it up "All through the chorus and the lines "Get it up, get it up, I'll fuck you all night etc"

Whereelse does he cameo on these records
So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

Tricky the b-side to Ice Cream Castles is basically a Prince track credited to the Time.
When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

That isn't Prince on the Walk, that's Morris

that voice-character didn't originate with Prince that's Morris
that's why it sounds so natural coming from Morris

I do believe that IS prince on The Walk. He has done the "Morris Day" voice on other songs. When was Do Yourself A Favor recorded? He uses the voice on that song.

Prince is all over The Time albums, musically, singing and speaking. From me having recorded with Morris and Andre, this is one of the many things I talked with them about. Here is the run down...

That's Morris that's talking on "The Walk".

On "Wild and Loose" and "777-9311" Dez is singing backup vocals along with Prince and Morris.

Also on "Wild and Loose" that's Prince who asks "Hey hey, u guys going to the party tonight?"

On "Grace", that's Morris talking.

On "Tricky" that's Prince talking imitating Morris while Morris is laughing.

That's Prince talking on "Chocolate"

Prince is singing back up vocals on the entire albums of The Time and What Time Is It? Lisa is also on backup vocals on The Stick (which she wrote the music).

MY favorite one out of all of these is on the Vanity 6's album on "If A Girl Answers", that's Prince talking through out the whole song imitating Morris.

More specifically it was recorded in early 1982 at Prince's home studio. Prince only recorded what is considered the "early part" of "Do Yourself A Favour". Pepe recorded the track in 1975.

The Time sessions dated earlier in 1982 at Sunset Sound from Jan 14th - 20th, just before the 2nd leg of the Controversy tour began. Gigolos, Bold Generation, International Lover (intended for The Time), The Walk, Colleen, You're All I Want, Wild & Loose, Turn It Up were all recorded in those few days. Soon he worked on an early part of "All The Critics...", "Do Yourself A Favour", "Bite The Beat", "He's So Dull", "Too Much", "Nasty Girl", and "Let's Pretend We're Married", which concluded through the end of March 1982.

I actually agree with Woogiebear (Love ur name!!!), it sounds like Prince on the walk, the sarcastic lilt in his voice (Like in "If a girl answers, don't hang up"). I kind of knew but was seeking confirmation). Its mostly Morris in that song, but I am sure (Before you getta a chance to holla stop is Prince).
I also kinda knew that Prince recorded and wrote all these songs, played all the instruments and sang guide vocals, and then Morris came in and recorded over the guide vocals. But these cameos are prominent, and not guide vocals, so that would make it technically guest vocals).
So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

-Excerpts from "The Walk":

-Morris: "The days of dancing in one place are GONE!!!"

-Prince: "Now honey U know U can't dance w/dem tight jeans on!!!!"

-Morris: "Who, me??? i wear baggies. Zip, snap and drop!!!"

-Morris: "Hmm!!! Easy access, baby!!!!"

-Prince: "Yesss!!!! B4 U get a chance 2 holla STOP!!!!!"

-Morris: "Besides.....Ronald likes his freedom"

-Prince: "Ain't nothin' like a fresh pair of Baggies!!!!"

-Morris: "Now I know that's right!!!!!"

When i was younger, i used 2 believe that terry Lewis ACTUALLY played Bass on the Time LP's ONLY 2 FIND OUT that Prince did PRACTICALLY EVERYTHING except play Drums (Morris did, NOT Jellybean) and sing Lead Vocals (although U can hear Prince throught ALL their LP's in the "background" or as "guide vocals" for Morris. Glad U finally got the revelation, but no one is denying Prince's LARGE part in the Times music,

COME ON

lead vocals are Morris, why would Prince have to add those parts when Morris does them all the time? You think Morris can't do that back n forth. Again that character was something Prince got from Morris imitating Prince's dad and the fellas

Prince is all over The Time albums, musically, singing and speaking. From me having recorded with Morris and Andre, this is one of the many things I talked with them about. Here is the run down...

woogie,.... nah brah. biggrin It's ONLY Morris on that. At least that's what Morris told me. He was quick to say when it was Prince on something and not him. I personally don't hear Prince on that speaking section, never have. P's voice, when he's imitating Morris, is more "raspier" sounding than Morris's. Morris has a smoother tone in his voice than when P is doing his "Morris" voice. Morris was always more laid back in his delivery where as P's delivery was more edgier and more animated. I like how you have them switching back and forth though. razz

MY favorite one out of all of these is on the Vanity 6's album on "If A Girl Answers", that's Prince talking through out the whole song imitating Morris.

hey BG, are there trax we can buy with you and MD or Andre on or were these private sessions?.

Some people on here have had the Morris song "Skirt", the song I played lead guitar on and which was engineered by Andre and recorded at Andre's studio, for a few years now. It was to be released on Morris's then new album which was slated with Chuckii Booker as producer. He bounced from the project because he wanted more money so that had a hand of killing off the kind of deal Morris wanted since Chuckii's name attached to the project was going to aid in Morris's new album deal. So the track "Skirt", was part of that project. Like I said, some on this site have this cut and have had it for awhile.
