Lenny's new CD caled "Negrophilia" - DrFB

According to our new Hollywood insider, Lenny's new CD is soon to drop.

It's called "Negrophilia." More from Doc Funk --

Lenny Kravitz will be dropping his new studio CD on us shortly and we hear it is
as funky as funky can be and that has me very excited.

The new CD, which is titled "Negrophilia" and there will be a lot of first for
Lenny on this project. I am sworn to secrecy but you just know I am trying my
hardest to get a little sample of some of the tracks to play for you.

In the meantime in between time, enjoy this exclusive poster image shared by our
friend of Lenny's upcoming show in Boston.

Also, don't forget to watch Jimmy Fallon Thursday night to see Lenny kill
it.-Dr.FB

The title is great. I know Lenny has been working on a funk album for years. I'm wondering if this is finally that project seeing a release, or another album in that vein.

That's what I was thinking...that this is the "Funk" album Lenny has been talking about wanting to do for years. I have all of Lenny's albums, seen the cat in concert 4 times,... I like Lenny. It'll be good regardless, I believe.

I have fond memories of seeing Lenny at First Avenue in support of Let Love Rule. His set was tight way back then. He did a great cover of Hendrix' "If 6 Was 9". I remember Lisa Bonet peeking out at the audience from back stage during the show.

boxerboy

he has been in rare form all summer in Europe...he has a top notch band backing him too. As a concert and performer it was hard to choose between Prince and Lenny this summer, so if you get a chance go and see him... the smaller the venue the better in my opinion. looking forward to the new stuff

Is this in "Asscociated Artists" just because they've played together before???

Just sayin'...He is not an associated artist.

Sorry 'bout that.

Yeah, I acidentally placed this thread in the associated artists forum. My bad. Forgot there were two related/associated artists forums on this site. Grrrr.

Anyway, I have been hearing about this all-"funk" project since fall of 1995 during the release of "Circus." I remember watching a late night special on Lenny and his project "Circus" and the veejay talking about a funk concept in the works.

I, like you, hope some of what was rumored to be worked on is on this upcoming release.

"Negrophilia" in title onlu reminds me of the Jamacian rhythm track "Eleutheria" from the Are You Gonna Go My Way project.

I love Lenny's music

there is a song by Lenny that came to mind when I heard the possible title called Black Girl. And from the Circus album I believe, he had a B side song called Light Skin Girl From London

I had that one in tape single form
Anyone heard of that song?

Light Skin Girl from London
She's unique and complete
And with the dog will sleep
She loves to read - she drew her feet and
She drew Jesus too
Oh Yeah
Light skin girl from London
Light skin girl from London

She understands,
She'll read your hands
And take the future right outta your plans
She'll let you in, but she won't take you where she lives
Oh no, light skin girl from London
Light skin girl from London,
Yeah yeah yeah

She's got style, but all the while
She dances to the beat out of time
She often cries, and she can speak to you through her mind
Oh no no no no
Light skin girl from London
Light skin girl from London, yeah
Solo

Light skin girl from London
She's a light skin girl from London
She's a,
She's a light skin girl from London
She's a light skin girl from London, yeah yeah
She's a light skin girl from London, oh yeah yeah
She's a.

One of my absolute favorite Lenny b-sides. It was released three times. On the Always On The Run CD-Single, the Another Life compilation Target exclusive and the recent 20th Anniversary Let Love Rule reissue.

When I Google "Negrophilia", Google asks me if I meant "necrophilia". Google has concluded that I'm a sick bastard.

Yeah, but if it'd been but in Music: Non-Prince, it would have been lost among the 5,429 Jackson/Madonna/Lady GaGa/Kylie/George Michael threads.

So it was a good mistake to post it here!

by "funk" I hope that means there's going to be some disco-esque stuff on it.

Lenny has yet to truly disappoint me. I love the dude.

I think there's a fine line between classic disco and and classic funk.

As long as it's uptempo and ass-shaking, me and vainandy will probably love it.

Wait, I'm not sure if he likes Lenny or hates him...

I find it interesting that Lenny is one of the only Prince proteges that formed a solid career of his own, after having the first two albums produced and performed entirely by Prince...

OH WAIT! He's not an associated artist after all is he?

Oddly enough, a lot of blogs have now picked up the Funkenberry story. Weird, huh? Anyway, Negrophilia sounds like it may consist of new material. I guess we'll see.

http://nymag.com/news/int...ter/59892/

He feels better in Paris, where he started work on his upcoming funk-rock album Negrophilia. It’s named after a book he’d read about the intense, often fetishistic fascination the French have with black artists

http://www.vanityfair.com...1970s.html

So what comes next for you after this tour?
My next album, which comes out next summer. It's called Negrophilia, the love of black culture.

What does it sound like?
Funk, African music, jazz, and soul. It's different. Very raw.
