Thank you. I was up until 1 o clock last night looking
for snippets. Man this album is awesome. Way better
than i expected. Jesse is definitely bringing something
fresh and new to the table. This is definitely what
R&B is missing. Oct.27 can't get here soon enough.

Jesse was influenced by Hendrix,Brown, and Stone.
You could tell by a lot of his 80's work.
D'Angelo who shouldn't be mentioned in the same
breath was obviously influenced by Prince.

Gotta say I dig your avatar. cool J.J. was hugely influenced by Sly. Dig "Crazay" for any doubt as well as the "nah nah nah nah" at the end of "Free World" among other tracks. I am not the least bit surprised by anything good that comes from Jesse. I've been knowing this cat was bad from when I first saw him with The Time in early 82.

I'm betting we will get a rock cd and a funk cd. I liked how he dropped that St.Louis funk on the Minneapolis scene back in a day with his stuff& The Vision band aka Da Krash/Kool Skool. I Like Jesse and Prince going after it on the guitar as well. They are both smoking and I don't care what anybody says they compete against each other and I love it. They both inspire me musically.

the female backround vocalists on the snippets are extremely annoying/wack

Lack of synthesizers is a major dissapointment

overall im not feeling any of the tracks really

and this is coming from a big JJ fan

oh well, there is enough classic jesse to keep me satisfied

i might still get it just to support him but i want to hear drum machines and synth. damnit!

From what I heard of the snippets, it sounds cool. His guitar phrasing, chord progressions and licks on some of this reminds me of Curtis Mayfield. Which to me, is a good thing. I believe it's the track "We Ain't Goin' Nowhere" reminds me of Dr. Dre. The music and the production of it. I really like "Merciful" razz

All I can say is this album is gonna catch people off guard because it's a sound thats very unexpected. Channeling Free World....its future funk touched with soul throwback.

I promise, its gonna suprise the HELL out of a few people lol

That sounds cool. Personally speaking, I doubt what Jesse is coming with would "surpise" because I know the cat is versatile. Something I don't think he gets enough credit for. He's so much more than just "Be Your Man" and "Jungle Love" type grooves. Although those are cool too, I'm just stating he's "further out" than just that. Question..Is "Channeling Free World", is that a song title on this new album or is that a phrase you coined to decribe the sound of this album? razz

Verbal Penetration is just what you said B.G. "further out" is just what Jesse's new release, funk, rock, soul, and about of musical magic. You "get it" about Jesse he is the most under rated guitar player on the planet. I have heard him in my studio for the last few months play,(as I am the photographer who shot his CD) ad to listen to this guy play is beyond incredible. I have heard them all and no one can play like Jesse, it is the greatest treat you could imagine. Oct 27 experience the musical trip, you will dig it. Christopher

razz Well as I have been known to say from titme to time,..I can dig it! Seriously, I've been hip to Jesse as a guitarist since Feb 82 when I saw The Time open for Prince on the Controversy tour. I saw them again in 83 on the 1999 tour. I've seen Jesse twice live as a solo artist. I actually had the chance to "fill in" for Jesse on a session with Morris and Andre for a Morris song. Which was an honor, you know. But yeah, Jesse has had an influence on me as a guitarist and on my visual image. To me, it all comes from Hendrix, you know, Hendrix, Hazel, Isley, Prince, Jesse, who trust me, I have been influenced by all of them and have been compared to as well, you know. But yeah, I have ALWAYS championed jesse on here and his skills as a guitarist as well as a songwriter.

This CD sounds like a very good, mature "D'Angelo CD" at times.. eek eek eek .. Like Saadiq and D'angelo with Jesse on guitar and production.

It's better 'cause it's Jesse.

Not so sure baout some of the messages in the music, but wow... It seems like a good mix of rock, funk, and its more soulful than I thought.

love it , would Jesse see it as a compliment if I likened it to a cross between classic Sly AND Prince c85/86.
I think there's a danger that this project will be viewed as another associated artist who has chosen the 25th anniversary of P. Rain to launch a comeback and do it via a Prince site!. Anyone who was in the P camp needs to stand on their own in the same way that W&L have done so I really hope that this CD will be getting as wide an exposure as possible.
Good luck Jesse, a lot of these trax deserve tobe heard by a wider audience. What are the plans for promo beyond the 'purple circle'?
