scififilmnerd said: [b]Exodus live On 3 March 1995, ’s European Gold Experience tour opened in London. The British newspaper The Guardian reported that some fans were given the Sampler Experience cassette, which included brief snatches of unreleased music: “Some of those samples were taken from a pending album by ’s band, The New Power Generation, which features on guitar and some vocals. That record will be released on NPG Records. Warner Bros. is keeping an eye on that project, wary of the prospects for a new album being slipped to the public outside of his contract.” “The important thing is that my fans hear this music, whether it be through duplicating cassettes or (…) just turn up at radio stations and play the people our music,” told Time Out. I had never read this particular article... Priceless!! Thanks so much for your exhaustive work scififilmnerd, and thanks also to squirrelgrease for all the visual aids!! I might have had segues on my compilation too if there'd been room for them. My favorite is NPG Bum Rush The Ship because, well, y'know, it's science fiction.
But I also think the segue prior to Return Of The Bump Squad is cool. "Move, nigga!" FREE THE 29 MAY 1993 COME CONFIGURATION!

Hey, I just noticed that although it says in the cover credits that Eric Leeds plays saxophone and flute on The Good Life, he does no such thing.
So I will delete that bit from the text immediately. FREE THE 29 MAY 1993 COME CONFIGURATION!

Yeah, I've found making playlists on my iPod very different from my days of making mixtapes & cd's, by having no time limit I find it easier to focus on just the tracks I want in the order I want, regardless of length... it's definitely a different approach. certainly made some funky music in 1994. If Pussy Control hadn't been added to The Gold Experience, he could have included it on an album that would have been his most funky this side of 1999 with tracks like Get Wild, Mad, Return Of The Bump Squad, Big Fun and Funky Design with Somebody's Somebody thrown in as the token ballad.
But getting Exodus instead wasn't so bad, really. FREE THE 29 MAY 1993 COME CONFIGURATION!

But getting Exodus instead wasn't so bad, really. After reading the different configurations that Come and Gold went through, the tracks that were edited or changed, and the general concensus that the fans lost out on better, more solid albums due to WB dragging their feet with the release dates. I'm glad Exodus was released as it was, I think this is one album that got better with time, the original configuration isn't anywhere near as good as the final product. I like a lot of the out-takes from Exodus, but 'It Takes 3' is pretty poor. The full version of Hallucination Rain is one of my all time favourite Prince tracks, it should've definately been included

Too bad the NPG version of Love... Thy Will Be Done was never released. The guitar work is so damn nice. Of course, Prince could replace Sonny's vocals and I wouldn't mind a bit. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I suppose the US fans DID. that's what imports r 4 i didn't lose nada lol man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Thanks for this! I always wondered what happened with a US release of Exodus. Now, it all makes sense. This was especially because there was a WB catalog # for it given at the back of the US single for "The Good Life." I spent a nice part of my 8th grade graduation $ getting the German import. I think its a great album, especially the song "New Power Soul."

There is a version of this release with a holographic case that appears for silly money on eBay now-and-again... Is this an official limited release/promo version, or is it like the Diamonds and Pearls 'Paisley box'? Formally known as Mr_Nos on Housequake
