If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

You do not need to have refined ears to listen to jazz or any of other music.
( You need to take this elistist crap somewhere else)

No one thinks or has seen any of P's instrumental projects marketed as Jazz.
Only a true moron would think he will ever be considered a jazz artist. It has nothing to do with refined ears but just plain old stupidity.

His instrumental stuff is that insturmental music. Some of which is really good
(Madhouse) some boring (Karmastura ) Nothing more to it nothing less.

Really? NO ONE thinks Madhouse was a jazz project? No one? GTFOH.
Many people on this very site have called Madhouse jazz. Elitist is usually what stupid people call people who know more than them. You don't NEED to have refined ears or knowledge of music to enjoy jazz - of course not - BUT many music scholars are jazz fans and for good reason. And for what its worth, Prince is a POP artist so there's no reason that any of his work would be "marketed" as jazz even though some of his work contains elements of jazz. Prince's music is usually a hybrid of styles and since he was always a pop/R&B artist, that's where his "marketing" base remained. Now is marketing base is his hardcore fans - none of which has to do with what style of music is ACTUALLY being played. Many artists have done songs in other genres that were marketed as part of a package of songs that fit into their perspective areas.

I have never gone into a record store back in the day and saw any of P’ cds in the Jazz section. I have never heard any of P’s music on Jazz radio station and yes some of Prince’s fans do listen to jazz despite your opinion about our unrefined ears. Most people are not going to classify P instrumental music as jazz with or without any announcements. Don’t just go buy a few people on this board since many people on this site is not all of the people on this site or even making up an significant portion of music fans or Prince fans.
You all full of generalizations and if you don’t think you’re an elitist you need to get your head out of your ass.

Who else would refer to anyone as being “stupid” because you assume they do not know anymore than you do. I doubt you have any sort personal relationship with hoards of people on this board to have discovered some intellectual music superior over org members.
You need to get over yourself and unfortunately your elitist attitude is one of the reasons Jazz is one the worst selling genres of music around.
Who the hell can stand to be around grandiose Negros like yourself since your refined ears or so above everyone else? You’re the type of person Miles Davis use to talk about all the time but I guess Miles ears were not refined enough for you either.

You get the negro please award of the week.

XANADUBLUE

Always looked forward to his jazz fusion albums/cd's. I like the experimental side of things that he implements into them sorta like he did in the early days with Dirty Mind and Controversy. He seems to have shifted it towards jazz and I like it.
