Who has the better voice- Tamar or Bria? Its a simple question,Tamar has an amazing voice in my opinion. Bria's voice is pretty good too,but Im sure that the Tamar album wouldve been so much better than the Bria cd we got in the Lotus package.

I really haven't heard Tamar sing all by herself like I have Bria. I do think that Tamar did a great job as a back-up singer on 3121. She blended well with Prince IMO. Supposedly she also recorded one of the songs that was released on the Elixer CD. Had I had a chance to listen to her version next to Bria's I could better say.
Another thing is that I have heard Tamar has a new album out produced by someone other than Prince. I can't imagine anyone other than Prince releasing another CD by Bria. I don't think Columbia or Warner is going to offer her a contract anytime soon. There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. I'm so friggin glad someone FINALLY asked this question.....TAMAR all the way. Beautiful,
Loved and Blessed is the only reason I even bought the 3121 cd.Bria sounds like a little mouse compared to the MUCH stronger Tamar Davis.

For me, Tamar has the strongest and most expressive voice of the two. Her backing in 3121 is better than Bria's lead work in Elixir. I too wish her album had been released, but not as part of the Lotus package. I think the Lotus package should have been a double Prince release, or triple with Prince recording Elixir himself. Including a protege album in your own release is cheesy and puts the protege's ability to cut it on their own right from the get-go.

It is like giving the vocalist training wheels which does imply they need it. The other horrible thing is that your vocals are possitioned right next to Prince's vocals and he is one of the best. You are going to look weak next to someone with a range like that unless you too have that type of range. Then on top of the the Svengali goes out to a jazz festival and sings the songs on your CD better than you did which only proves to his fans how expendable you are as a vocalist. Uh....Tamar has performed live and on record and performed along side Prince who wouldn't have performed with her if she wasn't an actual talent and class act. This question is as relevant and meaningful as a question of "who is a better song writer, Prince or K-Fed?"

Tamars booty is just... idk go look at the good morning america performance she did with prince. Are there pictures of Bria's Booty to compare Tamar's to? Every pic of Bria I see shows of her front side and her legs. Then there was that back shot in the video where she wears a falling-off silk robe. Again you see the breasts peeking out from the front but the butt is covered. So until I have a pic I can't vote for Bria. What festival and which songs. Imagine if Prince started having Shelby sing those songs as part of a set in concert. That would be the ultimate slap in the face to Bria. OH and my vote goes for Tamar.
She had a whole mini concert tour where people heard her sing LIVE. No studio tricks. The only complaints I heard from attendants were that Prince was not the main singer. (which is how Prince intended). No one complaint that Tamar's voice was anything weak, flat or out of tune. Bria on the other hand does not impress me on her studio vocals which for some singers is the only place that they sound good. Bria couldn't even manage that. I put Bria's voice on level with Mayte and Apollonia. I give Mayte and Apollonia a pass because they were not (nor pretended) to be good singers. They simply complied with Prince's request to sing. Mayte is a dancer and Appolonia is an actress. Both needed help in studio to make vocals listenable. Bria on the other hand toots her horn her on the Org as a great singer. So she gets the wrath because she is NOT. "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

Comparing the two versions of "Kept Woman", I prefer Tamar's. Shame her album wasn't released. [Edited 9/12/09 12:21pm]

O.k where is Shango; he certainly can pull up pictures of both booties to compare and contrast to answer the booty question. If Tamar did sleep with Prince, as some aledge, her timing must have been off. There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. That can't be the reason because the only great singer I can recall ever being associated with Prince is Bonnie Boyer. Everyone else is not a super strong, A-list type of vocalist, including Prince himself. Prince is not in the category of Luther Vandross, Howard Hewitt, or even Tevin Campbell as a belt it out type of singer. Bria is sexy, and she's got a voice. No not Mariah or Whitney strong, but good enough to convey emotion. Who exactly can sing in TLC? None of 'em but they had hits. What about Rhianna and Britney Spears? Bria's got more of a voice than either one of them, so what's the big deal? This anti-Bria thing is about something, but for sure it can't be about her voice.

I think Beyonce sings circles around Bria's effort on the CD (and that is not an easy thing to see, since Beyonce is not great vocalist). Unless Bria didn't give her all on her CD. I think Bria's album is good also, but Tamar's is much better. Prince dropped the ball on this one. "A united state of mind will never be divided
