THE WORLD IS HIGH....do u know?

I'm curious 4 someone 2 kindly fill me in on songs like "The World Is High", "Save The People" & "Paradise Garden" - they are, I imagine, Sheila E. tracks, though I am not sure where they came from, what album they were featured on (if any) and who wrote them, played on them, etc. Was Prince involved...?

If anyone knows anything related 2 these tracks I'd be much obliged if u'd post them here 4 me. Thank u so much*

Kisses,
J

Koo Koo for Sure had "Paradise Garden".it had a Strong Prince elemnet there.bottom line Prince had a Hand in all of Shelia's Albums&B-Sides while She was on Paisley&the first Warners Album.i forgot which single save the people" was on but I heard once or twice."Paradise Garden" was the only one of them B-sides I kinda liked.but of all the Solo B-Sides She did"Too Sexy" is my Favorite.that was in "Purple Rain".Shelia E is Credited with Playing Various Instruments&She does play a few Instruments but this had Prince's Signature all over it.Peace&I hope this Helps?

Mistermaxxx...you know, I think you always have good stuff to say and contribute to the knowledge, plus you come from way back...but dude, PLEASE STOP with the periods and no space afterwards and the non-use of PARAGRAPHS!

It would make reading your posts much more enjoyable.

Now...I don't remember that Save The People track...wonder what that was on. Sounds familiar but just don't know.

The World Is High is a strange but fabulous song. Very heavy beat, fast, funky, but strange, it's almost industrial Funk. No lyrics either. One of my favs. It obviously was made around the Dream Factory. But somehow doesn't fit that era in feel. Except maybe in the feel that its reahing for new musical ground in someway.

Too Sexy was a little boring for me. In fact, it sounded like Oh Sheila to me! Prince used the LinnDrum (LM-2) drum machine and I don't know, like it was kinda not produced effectively. Very dated. Just sounded like a filler song to me.

I actually like Paradise Garden. It feels like the title. Prince and Sheila also used the LM2.

The difference with the LM-1 and LM-2...the LM-1 was used from around 1999 to Parade...think of Kiss and When Doves Cry.

LM-2 used on Love Bizzare, Erotic City, Boys Club...was that wooden type clap. Kinda very eightees datable. The LM-1 has a timeless clean and warm almost sophisticated sound.

That's my two and 1/3 cents.

"Save The People" is from the "Sister Fate" 12-inch single. Great song!!

Sheila also had an original b-side with "Bass Base" (i think was the title) on the "Sex Cymbal" single.

Of the three songs you mention I must admit I like Paradise Gardens the best; it fits my moods more often than The World Is High, which is a ver yfast, busy track.

The World Is High has a groovy percussive song, but Paradise Gardens is SO beautiful; slow. Hot, like a summer night when you cannot do anything because it is too warm.

You should be able to pick both of these b-sides up on WinMX, I know because I'm sharing them myself.

I LOVE hearing ur thoughts on these tracks.. smile

"The World Is High" is gr8 2 me because it sounds unlike any other song released (until recently, of course), and I dig that ethereal/strange stuff.

"Paradise Garden" just sets my soul on fire whenever I hear it. Gr8 description u gave, honestly. Gr8 climax and jazzy, rock - kind of like "Power Fantastic" but not quite.

After these tracks how can u not want more?!!!

Prince + Sheila = BLISS

the publishing gives it away.some things were done with people contributing but Prince had His Hands on most of it no matter what is stated on the Credits.

Pagey

A girl I knew a while back had a CD with all of these tracks and some 12" versions of Sheila's big hits. She burned it for me and it is one killer CD. All of the b-sides are on there. I love Too Sexy the best, with Save the People close behind. They both have awesome percussion on them. This is my fave work out CD. Sheila is just too cool.

The World is High, to me, is Sheila's version of Sign 'o' the Times (lyric-wise). The music is not bad but not that great either. Paradise Gardens is a beautiful song.

peace
