Carlos Santana and Larry Graham, "Right On" I know a lot of people here, including myself, have ambivalent feelings when it comes to Larry Graham and his role in the Prince universe but hey, I´ve been listening to some of his old songs the past couple of days and the man created some great songs. Not only that he is a bass legend but he´s also quite an amazing performer. Too bad him and Prince would constantly play the same old songs over and over again ´til even the most hardcore fans got fed up at some point. However, let´s show some respect where respect is due, here is the one and only Larry Graham singing "Right On" off of Carlos Santana´s Milagro album (from 1994, as far as I recall...got it somewhere in my CD shelf).
Two of Prince´s biggest heros giving a great performance. http://www.youtube.com/wa...re=related " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

As I said above, the Santana album Milagro was released in the early 90s, I think in 1994. I will look it up for you later. It´s a nice album, albeit a bit too "clean" sounding compared to his older albums, but still nice. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Don´t know the location of this performance, sorry.
Looked up the album , it was released in 1992. ( The song is a Marvin Gaye song, you probably already know that). There´s always been some kind of Larry Graham/Carlos Santana/Prince connections from day one, even before Prince released his debut album.I remember reading somewhere that Prince visited Santana and he didn´t want to take his boots off. Reminds me a bit of that scene in Donnie Brasco where they go to a Japanese restaurant and Donnie doesn´t want to take his shoes off and causes a big scene. Did you know, that back in the sixties Deborah Santana was dating Sly Stone, before she met Carlos? And Larry Graham, of course played in that Family Stone band so they must have met some time? The official Santana site shows all past concerts, but I can't get a clear date of this show. This performance was at Arsenal Hall (Filmed on the Paramount Lot, Stage 29, Hollywood California January 1989 - May 1994). What I do have is an image of Prince with Carlos: [source: The Meet My Heroes Paparazzi] If you ever have the chance to read Deborah Santana's biography SPACE BETWEEN THE STARS (My journey to an open heart), please do. It among others discribes their time and travels, trials and turbelations, written from the first hand. [Edited 8/31/09 2:29am] [Edited 8/31/09 2:31am] Deborah and Carlos divorced two years ago, right ? I heard it´s because he cheated on her quite often. I don´t want to judge but I´d say she knew him before and she knew it all the time, so why divorce so late? Or why divorce at all? Carlos is such a free love, universal love type of guy,it must be tough for him to settle down and NEVER sleep with anyone else again. I wish they would have stayed together despite his womanizing ways. I will definitely try to get that book, thanks for the info. I love reading biographies. Have you ever read Divided Soul by Dave Ritz, writer of Sexual Healing? I´m a huge Marvin Gaye fan and that book is one of the most fascinating bios ever. Did you mean Arsenal Hall or Arsenio Hall ? Because to me, it looks like the Arsenio Hall show. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! But as far as I know she still manages Santana (the whole brand). 2. Will read divided soul and the other one as well, bios are mostly interesting, indeed. 3. I meant Arsenio Hall. He's in the very last second of the clip.

Those 'GCS' albums are some major funk fire. Particularly 'Release Yourself', 'Ain't-No-Bout--A-Doubt-It' and 'GCS'.
At Larry's performance in Vegas in 2006 (double-bill with 'The Time), also I think, partially released as 'GCS2006'(limited download), Larry did perform different songs (such as 'Entrow') with a fresh set-list.
