i do not understand why most people here think that these photos are good. from a professional point of view they are indeed well below-average. P does not know how to use light - look at the shadows: they are much 2 hard and overly dramatic. sometimes that is intended but in these photos it just looks unprofessional. the picture with Bria wearing the hat is the worst of all. wrong background, neither symmetric nor asymmetric (just a bad camera angle), the depth of field is much 2 much, and P did not know how to eliminate the tint caused by the lamplight. P does not do Bria - and himself - any favor in releasing these photos imho. if he as a notorious perfectionist really thinks these pictures are great there would be just one plausible explanation 4 this fatal error I can think of: P must be deeply in love with the subject in these pictures. . ...i have 2 disagree here... ..the use of shadow is GOOD.. ...the colors are GOOD.. ..props are GOOD.. ...the pose if FAIR... ..i even consulted with my sisters..and they have studied at the London School of Fashion...they had a few comments of improvement...so everything would of the EXCELLENT CALIBUR...but overall it was GOOD B+ ...mzsexybaby well, you are entitled to have your own view on it for sure. I admit that as a professional art buyer for glossy magazines and trained photographer myself I do have strong criteria in judging photos. Just compare P's photos to the professional pics of B and you will see the difference immediately yourself and will know what I mean. On top I can't see any lively magic in P's photos of her. Bria looks quite uncomfortable with herself (as mostly), like a statue with much 2 much make-up on.

I'm not going to comment the technical aspects, but as far as art go, these pictures don't move me. They have like a bland vibe. The model is protrayed with the same expression on all of them, and it sounds like there is no complicity with the photographer... Where is the human emotion that P. expresses so divinely in his music? To me, in these pictures, Bria appears like a doll, a perfect doll from her toes to her hat, beautiful & lifeless. Just my perception, but maybe I don't get the aesthetic experiment he is trying to deliver...

Also, its quite obvious this pic was done in Prince's style, besides him taking the pic himself, i doubt bria would ever wear that outfit including the hat if it wasn't for him [Edited 8/27/09 20:59pm] He gave her one of Mayte's old outfit Mayte has that look that says (in my best Kramer voice) " Look away! I'm hideous in this silly hat" ROTFL. Jking... I know this picture was posed and actually I really like it. The hat is very avante garde/artistic style and Mayte has such flawless complexion and pretty features that it really works. Bria's picture works as well... but Mayte did it better, better looking model and better looking hat. "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

Actually, I was going to say something about the shadows in Bria's picture and also on 2nd look I noticed that Mayte's picture was in black and white save the luxurious red felt hat in Mayte's picture. And you are on to something about Prince having strong feelings for the subject... I mean you would think he had some thing better to do than take pictures of Bria... unless there IS nothing better for him to do. "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

Ah... so he gets in to the production of creating things. :Hmm2: maybe that is why he gives such great live performances... he gets into the "art" of things which means studying them, getting a new perspective, really becoming engrossed in the subject. I find that incredibly enticing. "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

[Edited 8/28/09 6:56am] I hope it's not Bria's head he's messing with. Given that he was named after the group "Prince Roger's Trio" and it was his father's band, it may mean that his family will be there. Obviously not his parents, but certainly there are other family members still living. Then they say her family is hosting it. Doesn't a brides family usually host a wedding? Now I have no clue's except the ones we are all given but could a certain tall woman be led to believe that a wedding is still a possibility? Could the family of this woman be a little fed up with their baby girl month after month, bible study after bible study, SEEMINGLY being led to believe that SHE is the future baby mama? I mean if you were BV's sister wouldn't you want to take her man aside and ask him straight out what his plans are with your sister? If she were my sister I'd have had my tongue chewed off by now if I didn't say something to her little man. that presupposes that they're romantically involved.

Bria looks quite uncomfortable with herself (as mostly), like a statue with much 2 much make-up on. I agree...Bria looks pretty stiff in many of the photos. Just like a perfect statue without expression. Like a (sex)object. I really dislike the coverphoto for "Elixer", for example. I don't think it fits with the smooth music at all, and it really annoys me. I like Elixer very much and actually listened more to it than the other CD:s at first, but everytime I take it out from the case and that picture hits my eyes, I want to look away, though I'm afraid I will dislike the music because of it...LOL! Bria is such a beautiful woman, and if she's been modeling before she should know how to express herself and how to pose to really nail it. I don't know, but when it comes to Prince, he seems to be so aware about to keep a certain "image" about himself, that everything he does becomes strict poses, pretty far away from his sincere, heartfelt, wonderful music...I somehow don't get those extreme contradictions, but I suddenly understand why people want to work for him. I've been feeling the same when it comes to certain issues lately, and it's really sincere...I would love to be his "artistic adviser" [Edited 8/29/09 3:23am]

Put something into the public domain and it will be judged. If you don't want other peoples opinions don't show it to them (or send it out on an official/unofficial PR slant). "My God it's full of Stars"

Hey, I really like that! P should give you a call I totally agree with you both. This photo is relaxed and sensual with a focus on her full mouth and long neck. She looks like someone who has just been kissed very nicely. The shot he chose made you notice the lazy eyes and her beautiful neck was lost in her shoulders. I think her serious expression looks more like boredom instead of pondering anything. This is not picture where I wonder what the model is thinking. Analyzing Prince related material on a Prince website is surely not bollox? Not something I would be interested in sure, but obviously many do. And of course this is the place to do it. All people are doing here is giving their opinions. I would question however one person believing their opinion is more valid than anothers. Maybe discussing props/pose and use of shadow should be on "photographers weekly" website not here. And I know there are a lot of professional media types here (print/photography/film..I'm one of them) and a lot of them will post quite valid comments on these pics i.e. they are fucking awful.
