I love the Family. I love the new song. Not digging the new name, though. Like it's been said, the "Deluxe" does have a certain hamburgery feel to it. And the whole "F" think just makes me think of a letter grade in school.
Maybe they could have done what Morris Day did where "The Time" became "Morris Day and the Time". They could have been "St. Paul and the Family". Or maybe "Family Nouveau" Or even "F Nouveau" Although I suppose there is a certain similarity to Club Nouveau there.

He has flat out told Paul and Susannah that he won't allow them to use "The Family", because....well, he's a prick about it. F is for Family. Deluxe is a note that they've upgraded themselves. This version is a better version than the past one we know. Yeah, the music is that good. "Over The Canyon" is great. Heard that the first time yesterday. I also watched and listened as Bean laid down live drums for "@8" and "Drummers and Healers" in like 3 takes each. That man is BAD on the drums! "Vigil" is .....well, it'll set your heart on fire.

Good to see you're back. Now are F Deluxe going to be able to use Clare for the string parts? If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

During one of the Q&A's earlier this year on the uStream.tv stream, Paul and Susannah were sitting on the back porch of Susannah's house (I think), and they had a couple of hours before Clare's son showed up to talk about the business of putting Clare's strings on the album. I've never heard what became of that. However, the songs I have heard, Paul has done a great job of putting his own strings on the album, but I just don't know about Clare's. I know the project is fully funded by fDeluxe and fans, so who knows what Clare was asking, and if they had it to spare.

I think the LP will stand on it's own merits as a very cool piece, but I was really hoping to hear that lush Clare Fischer touch on the string tracks. It will TOTALLY stand on its own merits. No one can deny the excellent musicianship of Bean, Eric, and Paul, nor the great blending of voices of Paul and Susannah. The songs are fantastic, and the strings are just as velvety.
