J.P. DeLaire recently had his CD release party for "In My Life" at Bunkers in Minneapolis. His musical friends Michael Bland, St. Paul Peterson, Margie Cox (TaMara & The Seen), Ricky Peterson and Billy Frantze joined him onstage during the live concert. The first video is "Gotta Keep The Funk Alive" which is pure MPLS funk referencing Prince's "Lady Cab Driver" and The Time's "Cool". The second video is the soul/gospel ballad "We Can't Go On" which showcases JP DeLaire's amazing vocals. During this song they take up a collection cuz the band is so expensive to hire (not really, just a joke onstage). Check them out:

I actually like "We Can't Go On", just watched the video. JP definitely has the gospel feel in his voice and the song has some good soul in it. I felt like breaking out Tina Marie and Rick James "Fire and Desire" after listening to him sing....nice track.

JP's sound reminds me of Phil Perry. JP should do a cover of this song by Phil, seems like he may have the voice to carry this song called "Call Me."
