TMZ-vanity then and now Singer/Actress Vanity: 'Memba Her?!
Posted Aug 16th 2009 1:48AM by TMZ Staff In the '80s, Denise Matthews aka Vanity became famous as the lead singer of Prince's all female trio Vanity 6 and starring in films like "Terror Train" and "The Last Dragon." Guess what she looks like now! Before becoming an evangelical Christian, Denise had a crack cocaine addiction. Prince initially wanted to her stage name to be Vagina, but Matthews refused.

God Bless Vanity/Denise.
She's lived through a lot in her life. I wish her only the best of things and the peace and serenity she's striving for in her life. I still bump them Vanity 6 tracks like they came out yesterday!!! When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

That's a damn shame. I feel sorry for whomever coughed up the $150 or whatever price she last listed it at. Did people even get reimbursed?
There is so much to be told, not just speaking about her days as a Prince protege or stint as an actress but also her bout with drugs, her other relationships, her religious work and so forth. Honestly, she should have come out with a book a long time ago when her name was still fresh in the media. The longer she waits and the less she does to promote it then the more guarantee she will have of poor sales and dust build up.

^^
it would be a great read..she has so much to say. She says it's still coming out but she been saying this for about 4 years. I believe denise is still looking for outside investors. vanity is a very interesting woman. denise needs to capitalize. not only for her pockets but also in reguards to her new fond faith.

I was so in luv with this woman. I still feel she is the best looking Prince woman to this day.....Nobody can top her. She had looks, charisma and oozed sexuality out of her pores. I'm glad she still alive and beat her drug addiction.[/i] will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.

Well, I was one of the one's who coughed up $45 about 5 months ago with promises of the book being released soon. I will give her props for at least responding via email explaining that she had been very ill and hospitalized for several weeks. I wrote back wishing her well and she obliged. At least she's keeping in touch. I'm not going to judge. I respect her for turning her life around.

man that's really sad.. not to be superficial but she was really pretty in the 80s, it's a shame to know that she probably aged so poorly because of all the things her body has been threw, the way she looks now almost seems like a visual representation of how messed up her life was in those days. and i'm not even that anti-drug but there's a limit and moderation to everything to stay on track
i have to say appolonia has aged amazingly well compared to the other proteges, even though i think vanity was the hottest back in the day ¡The Future Is Ours, If You Can Count! https://www.youtube.com/w...A_zTY0qWWk

People dont realize that sickness can make a person age beyond their years. Iam just thank ful to God that she is still alive and living for the lord.
