I had no idea that Jill Jones was African American when I watched her in Purple Rain. When she reapeared as a brunette in Graffiti Bridge I wasn't too sure if I was suppose to know that was the blonde waitress. How did the kid end up with the cocktail waitress?
Another GB question; I thought when a woman gave a man her panties it was a compliment. How come when she took of her panties for Prince it was an insult? Next I heard someone say that she said Prince had "colorshock" given that she is quite fair complected herself what the hell does that mean?

Jill is like a chameleon, she never looks the same way twice. She looks different, sometimes unrecognisable in photos and on film. I think she is cool. I personally prefer her with blonde hair but she suits it dark too.

I dunno about colorshock. I've never heard or known Jill to say that about Prince. Maybe he was surprised she was mixed or maybe he dug it. I dunno really.

I always saw it as here you go that's what you can use when your alone type thing and it was in front of his friends a sure fire way of getting him to never pick up the phone and call you again so disrespectful for both. Funny to watch. I thought Jill was Portugal (sp?) . Proverbs 23:9

I herd that "She allways in my hair" was written about Jill... this true?? Yes I love that song! I have to say Prince does at least leave his exes with great songs to help remember the better part of their relationship with him. Were there any other songs inspired by Jill?

I love how Jill is always up to take on a different genre. From her Prince days, to the alt-rock of TWO and Grand Royals, to her work with Chic and Ryuichi Sakamoto. Also, fans of dance music should check out her recent singles "Someone To Jump Up" and "Living For The Weekend," which has charted by the way. GO JILL!!

http://www.geocities.com/...ebint.html interview from july 1999 NEIL : I've been told that should I ever have the privilege of seeing you play live, you wont be doing any of the songs from your time with Paisley Park, as that is a part of your life that you would rather forget. I can understand that, but would you like to explain, if you can, a little about what went wrong. How much control did you actually have over your debut Paisley Park album ? You're billed as co-producer and co-writer, but how much of that is actually true? For example, "Violet Blue" is one of my favourite songs EVER, did you write it on your own ? From THAT album, this is one of two songs I would love to hear live. JILL : What went wrong? Off timing, different energies. I truly believe that I have a guiding force that somehow protected me & allowed me to contribute the required balance for that time with Paisley Park. I've never been one who could function freely from the source of a clique or clan, or validate my existence through someone else's persona. On a personal level I know that my mission & contribution had to be more than just another Prince girl. As Paisley Park's initial agenda of artistic individuality & credibility began to shift into "theme park mode", it affected me like a bad blood transfusion. I am repellent to gimmicks & schemes, as well as restricting oneself to a one dimensional thought or theory. But I digress; at that time I was fully dedicated & committed to my work, but if I will sing any of those songs again, I truly cannot say at this time. NEIL : I blame the Paisley Park album's lack of commercial success, like others of the same era, on the astounding lack of promotion shown by Warner Bros. - was there a lot of discontent within the ranks? JILL : A lot of testosterone stuff going on. Also, I am always a bit suspect of larger corporate labels that play upon the ego of its artists by providing them their own personal labels, yet permitting only limited amount of success for them. NEIL : After the album, and the subsequent single releases - what happened next ? I know that you recorded some songs at AOSIS studios in London ; Deep Kiss, Living Legend, Unattainable Love, Red, White Dogs etc. - was the intention ever to re-record these songs for any future release on Paisley Park? JILL : Uh yes, that was the intention. but Prince had the final say & I would have to say that we were definitely at a crossroads. His view of me & how I viewed myself were leagues apart. NEIL : A second album for Paisley Park was recorded, but ultimately shelved. This must have been especially frustrating, since a video for the first single from the album ("Boom Boom") had even been filmed ! What was your initial reaction when you heard the album wasn't going to be released ? ( I know what mine would have been...) JILL : I'm actually thankful now. It just wasn't meant to be. I don't feel that it's too healthy to become apathetic when it comes to your creativity or too desperate. As my Mom always said to me, "Desperate people do desperate things, be sure you can live with yourself afterwards" NEIL : While filming Graffiti Bridge, didn't you feel awkward miming to the vocals on "Love Machine", when the album credits them to Elisa? Given that you were playing the part of Prince's girlfriend in the movie, surely it would have made more sense to have featured a song or two of your own? JILL : I did record the song too. However, for whatever reasons, either politically or emotionally, Prince made the decision to use Elisa Fiorello's voice. NEIL : What can you tell me about Baby Mother? JILL : Baby Mother was a collaborative effort with 2 ex-members of a band from Liverpool called "The River City People". Tim & Paul Speed and myself met, worked on some songs, eventually signed with London Records. At the final stages of the project, my mother became quite ill in NYC. I returned home from the UK & spent the last 8 months of her life with her. Subsequently, my marriage fell apart, I had a toddler on my hands, with the amount of pain & stress, I ended up hospitalized with a blood clot by my heart. Anyway, to be truthful, I was not the same person & the songs we'd been recording lacked meaning to me. So I asked to be released from the project. I was. NEIL : I believe you have a daughter now. Could you tell us a little about her ? JILL : Yes, my daughter's name is Azusena. She'll be 6 on July 23. She is remarkable, beautiful, intelligent, talented, pure perfection. The best thing that ever happened to me. So to reiterate I am today & have today because of all those yesterdays, not one experience less or one experience more. And I am very humble & thankful to have been blessed with such a treasure.

If her father is fair, then he must be northern Italian... I'd suspect he is olive to brown, if he's Italian-American, since it was the southern part of Italy that emigrated 2 South and North America. Anyway... LOVE Jill Jones. Love her. Man, Wednesday is probably one of the most sought after boots from the Vault Wish even just a small piece would have been added to the scene in purple rain, then we most likely would have had it released or it would have been circulating in the underground
