Here comes the Revolution...or not! (Updated) Per Brown Mark on Facebook, "I think a Revolution CD is definitely going to happen. Will keep U posted."
R U Ready!!!!! Update: Per Brown Mark’s Facebook page last night, we may have to wait a while for a Revolution CD after all. “Keep hope alive! We will come together again some day.” - Brownmark via TweetDeck Let the "I told ya so's begin" [Edited 7/31/09 14:56pm] [Edited 7/31/09 14:57pm] [Edited 7/31/09 15:01pm] Who ever said Prince has lost it - has lost it. The Kid's still got game!

I wish them well, but if Prince isn't involved...I doubt they'll even be able to use the Revolution name. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Maybe, maybe not but what's in a name? Maybe they'll go the same route as the Family and let us name them. IMO the publicity from that contest would give the new name relevance among the base (who will by this disc in droves). The big question is who would sing lead... my vote would have to be Jill Jones. Who ever said Prince has lost it - has lost it. The Kid's still got game!

Wendy and Lisa kinda pooh-poohed this idea in their .org interview, though maybe they can be swayed...?
It'd be cool to see a Revolution reunion album with revolving lead vocals, including some guest vocals and maybe an instrumental or two. Whether or not that's a realistic idea is another story...

If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Jill wasn't in the Revolution. And most all the Revolution members can sing on their own, so why not share the lead vocals? I would think that Mark and Wendy would bounce back and forth the most.

Prince catches wind of this he will deffinately pull the name but yet he cant he dont OWN the name at all (just liek the family he got from another band) Seriously he cant call the name "revolution" as his. Its in the name The American Revolution in history books, Revolutionary War, and just type in on google the word "revolution" youd be surprised what comes up prince needs to give up on the control issue seriously. Smurf theme song-seriously how many fucking "La Las" can u fit into a dam song

prince needs to give up on the control issue seriously. The Family and Family are different. Adding "The" makes it totally different. Family was the old group. The Family was Prince's group. This stands with the example of The Jacksons. While they were still on Motown, they went from The Jackson Five to The Jacksons. However, down the line on EPIC, they had to change it again after Motown disputed ownership of the name. You'll notice on the Victory album, they were just "Jacksons". Yet oddly on 2300 Jackson Street, it was "The Jacksons" again. There could be an argument that they're just The Revolution or Revolution, opposed to "Prince and the Revolution", which was the whole name. It's semantics, but it holds up in court. The ownership of Klymaxx had the same issues. Bernadette and Joyce fought for control when Cheryl Uncool Cooley used the name. It was later agreed that she would use "Cheryl Cooley, formerly of Klymaxx", but even she didn't stick to that deal. Bernadette and Joyce won the trademark and copyright on the name earlier this year. There's also an issue of if someone signs an agreement saying they will claim no rights to a band name, and give over their rights to the name to someone else. Guns N' Roses was the perfect example of this when Axl Rose strong armed everyone into giving up their rights to use the name. So did The Family sign that over when they went under a contract with Prince to be in this group? Perhaps. Did The Revolution? Perhaps not. We'll see.

OK, but Jill was around, did backing vox etc. I'd like to see a variety of vocalists too - Jill, Mark, Wendy - errr, Sheila would be nice too, but I would guess she's too in with Prince to jump on board.

I know Jill wasn’t “officially” a member of the Revolution but she did sing on several “Prince and the Revolution” tracks including a co-lead on the final track attributed to the group “It’s Going to be a Beautiful Night”. For me, she’s a part of that experience and a very strong vocalist to boot. I wouldn’t mind seeing her step in. Now with that said, each one of them talking a vocal would be cool as long as they don’t let Bobby near the mike…I’m just sayin’. Oh, and there’s still the question of which incarnation of the Revolution this band would be. Will Dez be on board? Will Eric and Atlanta lend some horns? Who ever said Prince has lost it - has lost it. The Kid's still got game!

[Edited 7/28/09 18:30pm] They could go with "the CounterRevolution". I recall that name floating around when they doubled in size for the Parade album. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

No offense, but that doesn't look like what Mark Brown would do 4 a Facebook page.
I don't think he would use an old pic as the main one, and I wouldn't think he'd have any interest in revisiting the past in that way. He lives more in the NOW, so 2 speak. Also... there R a lot of fake Facebook accounts. Just sayin'... wouldn't get your hopes up 4 this. "He's a musician's musician..."

He wants to start another Maz too [Edited 7/29/09 7:59am] OK then! I thought someone said it was from his F$book, but I see that it was on his twatter now. Sorry folks... I can't stand either one of them. He must be going through some reflection then, 'cause 4 a while, his cover shots were current (MySp), and he wasn't going by "BrownMark". When I spoke with him a few years back, it was all about the now, and he was going by his name. All good though! He was one of the only bassists that could NAIL the MPLS bass grooves. . .
