Susannah Melvoin - Lost Tracks Anyone?

I have a song recorded by Susannah call "Miss Understood" but never heard of her doing a solo project back when she was dating Prince or in the Family. Does anybody know anything about other tracks she may have done or a project that got shelved?
When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

It was an outtake from The Family album. After she recorded it, she took Prince outside the studio (I think they were at Sunset Sound or Studio 80 (whatever it's called)) in Los Angeles and said "You can't put that on the album, please don't put it on the album." His response was basically, "okay, no problem." That was the story, and she basically retold the same story a few months ago on one of the live Q&A cam sessions The Family 2.0 had w/ the fans (I got to Skype into that one too and talk to them). She just didn't like how it sounded or turned out.

There's one other outtake from that session, called "Feline".

Thanks. It's actually a pretty good song. I like it a lot more than a lot of the other unreleased protege tracks I've come across.

I like it too. I put it and "Feline" on the end of my track listing for The Family's album (along with the 12" of "Screams of Passion"). It's just part of the album for me.

wasn't Neon Telephone a part of that as well?

I really like the studio version of Nothing Compares 2 U, that didn't end up on the album, I always substitute that one with the album cut. I has more of the Purple Rain era sound with much more instrumentation.

Yes Feline is hot and Miss Understood would have been a cool B side 4 the family.

I don't recall, did they have any B sides?

"Neon Telephone" wound up on the Three O'Clock's Vermillion CD. It still had the backing vocals by Wendy & Lisa. Prince also had a bootleg version of it as well. Never heard of the Family doing this track.

To my knowledge, "Neon Telephone" was meant for UTCM, written in mind with the scene where Mary is calling Christopher late at night for a possible booty call. I think it would have been good to have on the "radio" she was listening to instead of "I Wonder U" (which might have been the goal at first). Yes, Prince does have his own version that's floating out there. I LOVE that Three O'Clock album. Every song is so good on that.

I don't believe there were any B-sides to The Family, just a 12" mix of "The Screams of Passion".

Nope. The Screams Of Passion single and 12" Extended both had the LP version of Yes as the b-side.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Feline or Miss Understood would have been a cool opposite B side for Screams of Passion

Not to my knowledge. "Miss Understood" was recorded before 1987 according to the bootleg I have it on. Margie Cox didn't get with Prince until after the name change prince for her solo tracks.
