My 50th Time show(the edited version) I went and saw the Time at the Atlanta Civic Center in Atlanta, Ga. on July 18, 2009. This was my first show this year and my 50th overall.
I was already in Atlanta since I went to the Braves game the day before. All I had to do was switch hotels. I checked out of my first hotel and made my way to the second hotel. This place was nice. The only thing I didn't like was the Valet parking. Fuck that shit. I don't want anybody but me driving my car. I checked in, chilled out for a few hours and went down to the Lobby. My man Jellybean came down and we hung out until the rest of the band showed up. I greeted all the fellas and caught up with them. The fellas went to catch a little shut eye before the show and I went back to my room and chilled out. I went down to the bar and had a few beers while I waited on the fellas. After they all came down, we piled into the pimp bus and went to the civic center. The Brothers Johnson and the SOS Band opened and the show was running late. We chilled out back stage until it was finally time to go on. I was Tori's guitar tech for the night, getting out his axe and giving him a pick right before he went on stage. Here is the line up Morris Day-Vocals and Cool Jellybean Johnson-Drums Monte Moir-Keyboards Tori "Freak Juice" Ruffin-Guitar Ricky "Freeze" Smith-Bass Jeff McNeely-Keyboards Sylvester Donald-Valet and Dancer Here is the set list with my comments to follow. 1. Intro 2. DAT Intro 3. Skillet 4. Cool 5. Get it up 6. Pandemonium 7. Chocolate 8. Wild and Loose 9. The Stick 10. Fishnet 11. The Oak Tree 12. Jerk Out 13. 777-9311 14. The Bird Encore 15. Jungle Love The show was only 41 minutes long. The venue had a 11 p.m. curfew and the it was almost 10:20 p.m. before the band even hit the stage. While I obviously would have wanted a longer show, the band played a nice fast paced set. I had a near perfect view from the side of the stage by the soundboard. The sound was great and the crowd was really into the show. The band was introduced and came on stage shortly after the DAT Intro. The band opened with Skillet before launching into two favorites off of the debut album:Cool and Get it up. A lightning fast Pandemonium and Chocolate followed before Morris asked "What time is it?" Wild and Loose brought down the house before we worked The Stick. Fishnet followed and everybody shook their leaves for The Oak Tree. The highlight for me was 777-9311. Tori was rippin' that shit up and had a nice solo after the fake pause. The Bird followed with the mandatory crowd participation. The band left and came back to close the show with a rockin' version of Jungle Love. We ended up hanging out backstage for awhile and them piled back into the party bus and went back to the hotel. The party continued there until the wee hours of the morning. Props to all the fellas for the continued hospitality. I can't wait for #51. [Edited 7/22/09 23:01pm] [Edited 7/23/09 1:01am]

Gotta a question - when you guys hang out after the show, do they ever break out guitars and do a little jamming?
That would be so freaking cool to see! If you don't mind, I will live vicariously through you.

What happened to the original lineup and the cd they were working on? Didn't they just do a residency in Vegas a little while back? When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

It's weird that Jerome is missing. He doesn't seem to be active with The Family right now either. It's obvious he had a lot of choices in front of him with The Family and The Time doing a lot of stuff this year, but why was he missing from that show?
And to follow up with HonestMan13...what happened to Jimmy, Terry, and all that?

And to follow up with HonestMan13...what happened to Jimmy, Terry, and all that? The album is DONE. In fact they have enough for 2 albums really ... there's the standard business stuff that any act has to work through (i.e distributor/label etc etc) and that all takes time. Sadly its not just about making great music ... the business part is 80% of it really.

I just meant I thought they were playing with The Time on tour, and now they're not.

i saw them 3 times in New York at Tramps before it shut down. This was Morris Day's touring lineup. i thought the originals did a residency inVegas then were working on an album? why would Morris undermine that by touring with a different lineup so soon afterwards? When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Vegas was a year ago. The album is pretty much done. The "touring" version has been playing non stop since late 95. When the album comes out, you will see more of the "original" band

I just meant I thought they were playing with The Time on tour, and now they're not. They never went on 'tour' with THE TIME, just the reunion shows in VEGAS a year ago, which it seems, was done just as much for their families, as it was for the fans, obviously JIMMY JAM AND TERRY LEWIS don't need to go on tour at this point in their careers. As NuSoul said, the album's pretty much done, just gotta dot the "I"s and cross the "T"s, and in my humble opinion, their first studio album in 20 years, sounds better than 19 years, so I'm expecting a 2010 release, all good things take TIME, and if I'm wrong, and we get it this year, then so much the better.
