Whats your favorite Wendy and Lisa Album? Okay...im tired of all these mayte threads...and all the wendy and lisa fans seem to have been banned from posting on all our old stomping grounds...
sooo...let me ask the org folks (and be nice.)...whats your favorite wendy and lisa album? ill go first: EROICA- as much as i love girlbros...something about the blended musical genres that just worked perfectly here...from the pure funk of my namesake (skeleton key)..to the alt-folk dream of a song in Mother of Pearl...To the country? :O of Valley Vista to the beautifully haunted Dont Try To Tell Me...its got it all, and it all works... anyone else care to share their thoughts?

I don't have any wendy and lisa albums, but I do like two songs they sung together. I like the Wonder U from the Parade album, and the other song don't know the title of it its really soft mellow song.

Probably "The Life"
My favorite album is also Eroica. Then each one before it, in that order. GirlBros is a tough one for me to like. I thought "Waterfall" (1987) was a very cool song, and the video was awesome. Why didn't this make Top 10?

Yes me remember them singing that that was the name of the song thanks Jasziah

The amazing thing is, every so often I play Girl Bros in my car. Everyone (and I really mean everyone) who hears it asks me what it is and where they can get it. I have never seen such an amazing reaction to an album before. They always sound disappointed when I tell them that I don't think it's available in the shops.
Does any one know (1) where I ca get Always in My Dreams (the album) and (2) are &L releasing anyhing else soon? OrgNote me.

yeah, Skel..
THANKS for breaking up the "Mayte monotony" in this category..! It looks like all the possible Mayte topics have been put out (THANK GOODNESS,) I TOTALLY LOVE the 1st 3 W&L albums..! "Girl Bros" is good, but I didn't get into that 1 as much & I'm not sure why.. My favorite W&L album is no doubt EROICA! They found their own voice on that album & their style had sufficiently evolved. Their 1st album was solid, but it sounded to much like "Prince" to me.. "Fruit at the bottom" was very good, but it was more "funk-pop" than the 1st album.. Then, with EROICA, the girls found the right mix of funk, rock, folk, psychadelica & whatever else.. & again, they did it in their OWN distinct style. I tell anyone who wants to check W&L at their best to get EROICA. & yeah, SKELETON KEY is my favorite song on that album.. VERY funky! Of course, it's pretty much out of print here in the US as a cd or cassette; I have seen the cd (as a cutout) in France & the next time I'm there & the next time I see that cd.. I'm all over it! they seem to prefer doing studio work & touring with other artists (like that Doyle dude).. but really, those girls are due to put out another album of their own. They have too much talent & whatnot to keep us starving out here for new W&L music! So come on, Wendy & Lisa.. give us some more SATISFACTION.. ! I'll see you tonight..

They're first too I REALLY love...but I love all of them, really. For different reasons.
Girl Bros. is a great album, but its not something I could play everyday, because it's so sad. I only play it when I'm feeling blue. Lisa's piano playing really speaks to my sadness, for some reason. That's why "Sometimes it snows in april" makes me wail. ***************************************************
Seems like the overly critical people are the sheep now days. It takes guts to admit that you like something. -Rdhull ...it ain't where ya from, it's where ya at... - Rakim

Eroica, still a great album after...12 years it's been 4 years since Girlbros now, I hope that they release soon a pop album + an instrumental ( like a soundtrack) one before 5 years...

Even if I got this very late. And my favourite song is "This is the life" (that means the "Dangerous Minds"-Version!) -----------------------------------------

Eroica does it for me. The entire album is AWESOME.
"Rainbow Lake" is musical perfection for me. The blend of all of those instruments together makes music from heaven. I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin.

I really liked the debut album, even though you could tell
from a lyrical context that they were still very affected by the bust up with their former boss. When I was about 16 or 17 I choreographed a modern dance piece to "The Life", which was my favorite song at the time. I lost my copy of Wendy and Lisa during a move back in the mid-nineties, and from what I understand, it is now out of print. If anyone out there on the org knows how I can get a copy of it, PLEASE send me an orgnote! That recording represented such a rich and inspirational time in my creative life and I would love to have it again...

Love Wendy & Lisa and hope they are coming out with something in the near future.
Fave: Eroica...never get sick of this one. It really flows well. Every track is killer. Someone stole my original copy of this at a party I once had. The original had a mini CD of some piano tracks by Lisa. I was REALLY pissed when I found out it was gone. I ended up buying a used copy from Amazon.com or CD Now. Next...The first album...I still listen to this on a pretty regular basis. I like the version of The Life on here much more than the newer one. Girl Bros. I am finding myself listening to this more and more. I have had it for awhile and it took some time to get used to. But I finally am getting it. Very heartfelt, and, yes, very sad. Fruit At The Bottom...My least fave, just because it sounded like they were trying to copy Prince. Are You My Baby..with their voices sped up, and Satifaction with Jesse Johnson who is basically a Prince-clone. It's not horrible...just the worst in the bunch imo.

My Favorite Wendy and Lisa album?? Hmmm Let's see that would have to be " Fruit at the Bottom " That was a true classic.. I love the re-mix of " Are U My Baby " and the single of " Fruit at the Bottom " they were rocking on those cuts. And that slow song " Always in my Dreams " That was nice. “When I give food to the poor, they call me a saint. Their first album was brilliant, but I thought "Fruit at the Bottom was pretty funky. If a record company decides to make a double CD out of those 2 albums, then that would be my fave. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

They're all great, but EROICA is the masterpiece at this point. Eclectic, funky, rich textural arrangements and superior musicianship... typical of Wendy & Lisa fare, but best balanced here. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου
