Apollonia 6 - the 3 lost videos

I recently came across 3 unreleased Apollonia 6 videos that I never knew existed. Sex Shooter(different than released version), Ooh She She Wa Wa & blue Limousine. Theyu run together like a minifilm and were pretty good at showcasing each girl in the group. Has anyone else seen them or knows why they got shelved?
When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Cut and paste.

I think what Honest might be referring to is a mini movie which briefly appeared a year or two ago on Youtube and was likely meant to be released (where I'm not sure) after the album's release. It might have been Apollonia 6's one last shout but nobody got to see it. I think it was called "Happy Birthday Mr. Christian". It featured the girls I believe trying to get jobs in order to buy a present for "Mr.Christian" (I believe played by Ricky Nelson Prince does not appear in it (and I believe the end credits were cut from the film although music plays where they were meant to appear). The title song I believe plays throughout the movie but not with any of the girls actually singing it (like a video) and then each girl sort gets a shot at taking the lead. The most impressive "video" was "Sex Shooter". It featured the girls prancing through a market as cashier and had some great imagery (it might have taken cues from Hitchcock by showing shadows but over a pink wall). Apollonia was stalking a nerdy shopper the entire time. It was great! I wish that entire video was still available...hint, hint?

Yeah,I saw these videos.I heard about the plans for this project back in 1984 but I never knew that it was actually filmed.I was surprised to see these videos pop up on Youtube last year.In a late-1984 interview,Apollonia said that Warner Bros. was "demanding" that they make a video for every song on the album. In early 1985,they began filming the video album but it was cancelled for some reason.

It's a shame that Warners didn't make "Blue Limousine" the hit that it deserved to be.It was released as the second single from the album but with no video or promotion whatsoever.

Yes I've seen them

I think with a little more effort(a touch of Purple Rain) say make it like a outtake of the film, I think it could have been a bit better, even adding Time/Revolution people in the background

I thought they were fun,

It seemed that Apollonia had a bit of interest, I think if Prince put more quality into A6 she would have stayed around.

the album was week: took Manic Monday, 17 Days and a few others from them(the Glamorous Life Sheila E just rocks) but I think with a bit more quality it could have been a hot project

I can imagine if Vanity/Apollonia6 were still around for the Parade era
that would be cool, their image would be a bit different, with a look more like the Prince & the Revolution/Family or Mazarati look

I wish Prince had the foresight to fight to keep things together

Just being honest here but the Apolloinia 6 version of "Manic Monday" wasn't that great and honestly didn't fit with the rest of the album when all played together. I could've seen it on the Vanity 6 album cause they rocked different styles on "He's So Dull" & "Bite The Beat". I think the Bangles did a fantastic job with it and it fit their image and style.

That's my point, the music that ended up being A6 was weak

the Manic Monday we have a copy of is not the finished/polished work
and a lot of the music that ended up there was just filler, it didn't make Prince look good

17 Days was supposed to be on there
Glamorous Life
Manic Monday and a few others were pulled and/or used for someone else

I was thinking the opposite that the songs that did make the album all fit together and the others didn't with the exception of maybe the Glamorous Life. I never heard the Apollonia 6 versions of 17 Days or Glamorous Life. The version of Manic Monday didn't seem to fit the vibe of sexuality the rest of the album was putting forth. It'd be interesting to hear what the intended project was supposed to sound like with the correct sequencing and all.

It's so great to finally see these 3 videos that I have been hearing so much about over the past few years. It's really too bad Warner Brothers decided against promoting the album. I thought it was a very good album. Still can't get enough of "I Love You (A Million Miles)"!

Yeah me too, it was cool that Brendas vocals remained on the released

I think the A6 album original would have had a more interesting vibe, a bit deeper in lyrics

When I think of Apollonia from the movie she was very 'innocent' like
Take Me With U, Manic Monday, 17 Days, the Glamorous Life, tell a story

I wonder if Noon Rendevous was intended for the A6 album

Was Vibrator or was it Climax, a A6 outtake(originally for the 2nd V6 album?)

I don't think "Vibrator" was ever intended for the Apollonia 6.That song is too nasty, too outrageous....Apples couldn't pull it off lol Only Vanity could do a song like that, and Prince knows it.That's why, when Vanity left,he decided to give the girls songs that weren't as suggestive. He wanted to make them less controversial, less provocative.

I bet that these songs would have made up Side One of the second Vanity 6 album:

Sex Shooter
Vibrator
G-Spot

Notice that on the bootlegs, the song "Vibrator" segues right into "G-Spot",which makes me believe that it was originally intended for Vanity 6.Those three songs in a row would have been WILD!

Don't get me started,
that music was hot, the Vanity 6(PR era album) would have been hot

Vanity with the 2 ladies had what it took to fill the shoes
the V6 version of Sex Shooter was red hot

You got me making a playlist of those 3 songs.

Yeah what I meant was Vibrator was poss for the next V6 album that would have been the PR era album

Prince had a version of it but it never was officially released and Jesse Johnson covered it. I never heard it being in line for the girls in Vanity 6 or Apollonia 6.

Nope.The song has a long history,though....

The first version was recored in 1975 by Pepe Willie (with Prince on bass).

Prince recorded a version in 1982.According to Jesse Johnson,Prince was considering it for The Time's 'What Time Is It' album and later, for 'Ice Cream Castles'.It would have been Jesse's debut as lead vocalist on a Time song.

Finally,in 1986,Jesse recorded his own version for his 'Shockadelica' album, crediting it to himself and Pepe Willie. The arrangement is very similiar to Prince's 1982 version.
