Maceo Parker Live in the UK

I was lucky enough to spot Maceo was playing near me here in the UK (i didn't really see much advertising for the gig)

We saw him last night in Manchester - thought it was great.

Very impressive band - the only shame was that it coincided with the biggest football match of the year for lots of mancunians so the venue was only half full

Did anyone elso go?

I saw him play in Coventry at the Jazz festival. I ended up propping up the bar with my mates and the band until the early hours talking muso bollocks in a slurred voice. Great to chat to them about life on the road.

The gig was great. Very, very tight and maceo's energy for a bloke his age is incredible.

The only downside was that the Venue was seated and the boring crowd spent the whole gig sat down. Its funk....get up and dance damn it!

The other downer was the two miserable bastards sat to my right who gave anyone who showed any degree of excitement filthy looks. Jazzer arseholes!!

I think the venue in manchester could have been selected better too.

bridgewater hall is beautiful but doesn't work well for that kinda gig - its all seated and too open

we saw george clinton there a few years ago and that was the same issue

i would have loved to had the experience you had chatting to the guys afterwards - sounds like a great night
