They were like Mick and Bianca; a total head turning couple that nobody could ignore. I think that Vanity may have been like Bianca too in that Bianca was head strong and not easily lead by the nose. They both brought something to the table. You didn't just want to have Prince you wanted to be her. | |

That's true to a point. It was all about timing. Many people, even many of P's fans, including girls, up to 1982, either believed P was gay or they weren't sure. So when he was taking pics of himself with Vanity and it was out that Vanity was his woman, then yeah, it was a GREAT shift in how people viewed Prince. He became "sexy" to women. That combined with his arrival on MTV who were playing the shit out of the 1999 and especially Little Red Corvette videos, P became a "hot" item with the ladies beginning in 1982. Largely because of Vanity, he upgraded from having a strong teen female following to grown ass women popularity as well. Also, him adding Jill Jones to the band in the videos 1999 and Automatic, also dressed in lingirie, that definately didn't hurt. Vanity in a large sense, made the persona that he had in Purple Rain possible. IF he hadn't upgraded in his female fanbase when he did, which was due to a beautiful exotic woman such as Vanity, he might not have gotten the finacial backing to make the film Purple Rain.
