Does anyone know if she participated on NPS (the album)? I think the song dates from 1996 while the other ones on GCS2000 (and NPS) date from 1997, this explains it most probably! I know Mayte was still in P camp when he met Larry but soon after that she was out of the picture… Maybe the song existed already (sounds post-Emancipation to me, maybe planned for the Peace album that was announced on the Love4oneanother website) and larry put vocals on it soon afterwards. After Mayte Prince's music changed unfortunately…and he never managed to write a "real" lovesong again, they became all plastic and "formulistic" sounding.

Why wouldn't she be around? In the summer of 1998, Prince was on VIBE with Sinbad, as was Larry and Tina Graham, Chaka Khan, and Mayte. They were still very much together. The separation happened sometime in 1999.

THe NewPowerSoul album was recorded in very lately 1997 or very early 1998, before they hit the road to promote it on The Today Show (which was early summer), and VIBE, among other places. (They also promoted Crystal Ball which was released the same year.) So yes, she was around. She was more than in his "camp". She was in his bed. And he was in her.
