Was Tamar's talent too much for Prince? I really dont see how
he could let someone with this kind of talent get away. I dont care how many of you dont like her "style" or whatever, this woman has undeniable talent. Its scary to realize that people who dont even have 1/2 the talent she has are at the top or being pushed into the limelight. maybe prince is just incapable of handling such great talent. ...then he turned to me and said "I dare you".

There are two sides to the story .....lets stop bashing the guy over his head
you ever think maybe the record company set to distribute didn't want to go ahead. and obviously it appears Tamar went a total different direction with the producer she worked with after Prince. Milk & Honey made it's way out anyway did Tamar and Prince get paid, who knows

The majority of thread regarding Tamar are in the vein of Prince-did-her-wrong or victimizing her. I would think if anything one-sided occurred she would be smart enough to get legal guidance.Perhaps she should be interviewed to lay this 2 year old grievance to rest. With the multitude of musicians/singers Prince has worked with Tamar is not above his musical comprehension. If anything he was in her corner.

With the multitude of musicians/singers Prince has worked with Tamar is not above his musical comprehension. If anything he was in her corner. I believe that Prince was headed the right way with Tamar but something went wrong. Id like to blame everything on the record company. but Prince is 2 smart 4 that. why not distribute her record on his own? why did he NEED a major record label? and Prince knows how record labels can be. i would think he knew that there could be some screw ups in the process. why would he still bargain with her talent? and you talk about all these great talents hes been with before. when are their records coming out? and what i said is true! no one is victimizing her. if anything,im giving her props. does that upset you? no one said prince is shallow and only puts effort forth when it comes to maintaining a sexual realtionship with the new protegee but i could have easily said it. i know you may like to think of prince as some dude always looking out for the people he works with, but in reality... if they go along with his current style, good. when hes done with them, he only looks out for himself. ...then he turned to me and said "I dare you".

Funny. I felt the same way about Rosie Gaines after her departure from the NPG. Although looking back now I don't think it is Prince's fault that she didn't succeed. He gave her the "spotlight" but she didn't deliver. People just weren't into "her" style of music. She could tear the hell out of some Aretha songs though, and she really sounded good with Prince. i love rosie! but with tamar,i saw actual interest. i remember people i knew asking me about the girl in prince's "fury" video. im thinking they were reerring to the twins but they were talking about tamar. and then after gma,i got a whole lot of questions concerning tamar. i think prince could have manipulated this curiousity like he usually does. ...then he turned to me and said "I dare you".

I don't lose sleep over what should or should not have occurred 2 years ago...
there is music to be heard now whether or not it's received well or not.

I think he genuinely supported Tamar-it just wasn't meant to be.

They broke up and so Tamar didn't get the support she needed from Prince. His love comes at a price. I don't care if it was 2 or 10 years ago. Past is prologue. Prince neva gonna learn.

These days,is Prince really capable of making anybody a star? We're not in the 80s anymore.Sure,Bria's CD was released but let's face it...she will be forgotten in a few months from now.I doubt that she will have a long, successful career.

Was he ever capable, except for Sheila E? Most of the people I can think of dropped one album that didn't sell and then that was it. TRUE BLUE

It could be that Tamar is better off without him. Once again, I point to Alexander Oneal, Jam and Lewis, the 3 tony's. Sure several of these acts got exposure through Prince but if they had linger on, he would have stifled their style, and we would not have: the Control album by Janet, or If you were here tonight (an old school RB slow jam classic) or It never Rains in California. If they really want it, they'll do what it takes to stay there. There's people affilitated with P that did nothing after him and there's people that continued to work in the industry and made meager livings. The only people who ultimately determine their fates are the people themselves! Change it one more time..

As an observer, im just going to say the obvious. the only people that would honestly care about bria or her music SO much are her friends or family. be smart, think about it, no one knows the girl and everyone on here signed up to read about prince and his music. 4bjb, wunderlandmine, warhol etc are on a constant parade with bria banners. you diss anyone who says anything disagreeable to what they see with her or hear. to make it even more noticeable, there are some who try to make her look innocent and holy and also take it upon themselves to think they wear a halo as well... then they play themselves when they go hate on other women like TAMAR or any other girl associated with prince. "your" words dont hold any value or worthiness of respect the moment you become a hypocrite to what youre preachin sista. i show love where its due and from the get-go i never thought bria to be a "prince" type. her music bored me but i didnt form an opinion of like or dislike to her i just didnt 'notice' her. however, that woman, lisa is beautiful, i also thought mani was too and i realize this is off topic, but after seeing certain users exhaustingly drag out how 'great' bria is, then coming on other forums to diss others, i dont think they realize they are trying too hard and its obvious to everyone outside looking in. just sayin get a grip tamar definitely had a lovely voice to me. if you got it, you got it. if you dont, you just dont.

Rosie had 3 quite big hitsingles in the UK and in Europe, so some people were into her music. "Closer than close" made it to no. 4 in the UK, and that song as well as "I surrender" were all over the place in 1997. She also did a duet with Gary Barlow, can't remember the title, which was also very succesful. Personally, I wasn't particularly into any of these songs, but I remember thinking how remarkable it was that someone actually did this well, post- Prince. Couldn't think of anyone else that got this much radioplay and such chart positions. (For that matter very few, if any, got it while still at Paisley).
