Yes I think that is what he is REALLY, REALLY, REALLY doing. Do you think the song Here I come is an ode to personal hygene? Sorry I don't have the title to the other song where he sings out "you make me hot". My interpretation of "you make me hot" is not you give me the flu. Being a Jehovah's Witness all sexual contact is considered fornication. Mutual masturbation and all that. I checked it out on their website and they do not condone masturbation but they do not think of it as fornication. Anyway you can go on believing that all he's doing is offering some Russell Stovers to Bria in the chocolate box song if you want.
However, I truely believe that Vanity is trying to be one with God. She truely seems like someone who gives everything up to God and follow in Jesus' path with as few luxury's as possible. That is not my style but I appretiate her integrity.

Just a few comments:
-Denise does seem very sincere I get the feeling she is actually the same person on camera as she is off of it. Her views are extreme, and while I don't agree with all of her views, I understand why she did a total 180 in her life. -About her celibacy, I think a lot of this has to do with the break up of her marriage. Her husband cheated on her with another woman in the same church they all went to. I bet Denise saw that as a "sign from God" that she should be celibate for the rest of her life... -About the change in her appearance, I think most of it has to do with the health problems she's been having for the last few years. Part of the reason why she has said her book is being delayed is because of "hospitalization". I saw her about 10 years ago on VH1's former tv show "Where Are They Now?", and she was still stunning at the age of 40. In the early 2000's she still didn't look much different. I think the last few years have just been really rough on her health-wise, and unfortunately it's starting to show

I don't think she ever got a transplant. And after all these years, she may need blood dialysis instead of the at home do it yourself dialysis. Those HEMO dialysis really wipe a person out. Also, her blood pressure is probably hard to control, and she has to take several medications to control it... a lot of those meds really wipe you out. To me Denies looks a little puffy and tired. Sounds like she is being worn down by her chronic illnes, the treatment and her age... she is nearly 50. and don't get me wrong... she looks WONDERFUL at her age... but she looks her age. No airbrushing on her pictures. "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

You know some people do drugs because they are off to begin with. Vanity always had that overabundance of energy. People like that often self medicate. She might have a slight chemical imbalance, it doesn't make her crazy. Alot of very creative people do (have chemical imbalances). The music world is full of stories of celebrities who died due to drug overdose and then when their story came out we hear that they are bipolar or cronically depressed.

But in the interview, Denise actually states that she didn't think taking drugs would change how she feels or would effect her So drugs wasn't really self medicating to start with which is a bit different to what your saying i think sort of. .

I find that very strange.. i would have love to have read the first manuscript she wrote from that book b 4 she threw it away. I use 2 love her so much I watched that interview when it originally aired the one with Joan Rivers
Thats because they aint on the same path. Vanity is kookoo but shes not out of touch. She just one of the crazy Jesus people and its all good, everybody got their something. But at least I feel that she tells the truth that when she says she is celibate and a born again virgin, I believe it. I believe she doesnt think about sex. Prince is the opposite to me. I dont believe a damn word out of his mouth. And that is just gut feeling. If Prince says he's not celibate I think he takes the Bill Clinton definition and really means "I did not put my penis in that pussy, however I did put my cigar on her clit". I mean with all the women, for real? Make no damn sense. You may be right on that!

And I don't mind hearing a few words about Jesus to balance out all the Vanity output. Somehow I still feel bad for her even though she absolutely does not feel bad for herself. She starts off a total wild child who is so beautiful it's nearly freaky. She gets alot of sex, drugs and rock and roll but alas no true love. She lays inches away from death and turns her life over to the all loveing Jesus. Now Jesus loves her and she loves Jesus. But what about actual human contact? She has been celibate for 12 and I don't think it's the Prince type of celibate where you take care of your own needs while you watch your girlfriend masturbate in the shower or dance as sexy as she can in her Jimmy Choos. I think Vanity is doing NOTHING. And I feel like the girl deserves SOMETHING for all her evangelical work. I noticed there were plenty of sisters in the audience clapping wildly because they felt her truth. Dear Jesus, can you do something for all these Juliettes who need a little Romeo? While you are at it Jesus can you get to Romeo and save his soul too BEFORE he ends up doing 15 year to life and may never see another Juliette again as long as he lives? Well Brofie as I recall this whole thread started out with a video of Denise on a religious show talking about Jesus himself. So that is where the whole thing got religious. Yes, Jehovah' Witnesses are deffinately Christians. Next time they knock on your door grab a watchtower before you slam a door in their face and you will see that. They believe that Jesus is the son of God,has God as his father and Mary as his mother; They do not believe in the Trinity and therefore do not believe that Jesus IS God. (PS I was just joking about slaming doors in peoples faces, I was not implying that YOU would do such a thing).

I live one block from a Kingdom Hall and I could give a damn about JW or any other man made religion when it has nothing to do with music.

Speaking of religions link to music, I think it is interesting that many of the best voices in music got their start or at least their training in Gospel Choirs. Their range tends to be so much better and their voices so much richer. Rosie Gaines had Gospel roots. Whether it's hymns, chants or spirituals, there is this undeniable tie between music and religion. Of course that is when the feeling is real: some of that Jesus rock and roll is straight up crap. Listeners can tell the difference. I'll tell you why the caged bird sings.

I think this is because for most people who are talented at a young age, gospel choirs are the olnly outlet for their talent and public performance. "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack
