This may have been discussed already but in this part of the Tavis interview where Prince says:

"I can go there. I'm a fighter, I'm very competitive. I think from him being so hard on me that - the one thing I got out of it is I understood that in his harshness he wanted me to excel. He used to say things like, "Don't ever get a girl pregnant. Don't ever get married." Don't this, don't that.

When he'd say these things, I didn't know what to take from it so I would create my own universe. And my sister's like that, a lot of my friends are like that - the ones that I still have - early musicians and things like that. Creating your own universe is the key to it, I believe, and letting all the people that you need occupy your universe."

. . .I'm assuming he's talking about Tyka? It actually seems a very positive assessment of her life right now.

i guess only tyka or prince could answer that.

He also mentioned taking care of his family, actually, I believe he said "folks". I know it's odd and I guess sort of an unkind assumption, but for some reason, I didn't believe that he did.

I guess because he isn't seen with them, I didn't think that they were close. The only family member that I've seen around was his father during the UTCM period. I felt that he took care of him and his mother, but thought that, that was it.

Also, I felt that Tyka appeared to be struggling. With her book and album, I thought she was in need of money or something.

I don't watch soap operas, but I suppose reading into Prince's life has sort of become one as of late.
