Prince made his own bed. Funny thing, how your past and the way you treat people can bite you in the ass.

Rhymes with "shmarma".

Yep. Prince needs to learn that his shit does in fact stink and you can't treat people like whatever and not expect to get anything back nod

Why wouldn't he come up in every interview? If it wasn't for Prince the vast majority of people wouldn't even know who Wendy and Lisa are. Without Prince they would have never achieved the kind of fame that they have. They would have been working composers or musicians, but no where near the level that they achieved in their careers had they not been associated with and so prominantly featured by him. So, in that respect he was very generous because he could have easily had other, more talented musicians in their place.

I am not trying to take anything from them, but the fact remains that there is nothing about them that makes them stand so far ahead of the crowd of talented folks performing and composing music. However, once you add the Prince factor into their success, it makes sense.

Or perhaps they would be more successful not living in his shadow. I will totally disagree that they don't stand out. Their solo work attracts me on it's own. I do not- and never have- gone out of my way to buy music that I buy because of association. And I own all their cds. Many people who know them only know them for their Heroes music, and have never even seen Purple Rain...lol. I know many people in that category who I turned on the their latest cd- which they in turn bought.
Unlike LOST and it's overwrought FOREBODING string riff every time it comes to a commercial, their work blends WITH the scenes and supports it - rather than overpowering it. Or being a crappy device like horror movie music.
They have carved a career in a completely different industry DESPITE Prince, not because of him. And , like it or not, their music has evolved over time.

Exactly! Who knows how much being with Prince actually held them back? In the interview they said the record company made them make their first two albums have a Prince-esque sound, and it wasn't till their 3rd record that they started to really be themselves. The first 2 albums were good, but Erocia blew them away.

I don't think she was into women, either. I think that was another attempt at creating controversy & getting folks tittilated with so-called "lesbian antics."

You never see her being linked to a woman now do you?

Well, it's off topic and everybody thinks differently but for what I've read about Madonna since '85 she's definitely into women, not only for attention but for her pleasure.
If it would have been 1 time you can assume it's for attention but if this story is circulating for 24 years and happening on several occassions there must be truth in it.

Madonna has clearly "experimented" with women, but I don't believe that she ever was gay or bi.She's always been extremely open about her sexual life.If she were really gay or bisexual, she would proudly tell everyone that she is,lol. She wouldn't hide from it.Her so-called lesbian phase was her attempt at generating controversy. It's like when you go to a nightclub these days and you see two or three girls dancing suggestively together, freaking each other, holding hands and even kissing. Those women are straight. It's just a shock tactic to excite the guys.

I LOVE this question and answer that Wendy gave. It really sums up Prince's protoge's....even Bria:

All the women on Prince’s record label, Paisley Park, were really attractive. And as time went on, it became more of an issue whether or not they were picked for their musical talent.
Wendy: Prince liked to be your savior. He liked to promise the world to you and he liked to be the guy who could deliver that to you and make you feel bigger than life. And I think he continues to do that with certain artists who would never be signed to a regular label and would never be played on radio and could never sell a record. I think that he actually believes that the women were all worthy musicians in his eyes, but I do probably think that there was a sexual component to it. That’s just my psychology and I could be dead wrong, I don’t know.

Well, that fits with those Tamar interviews where she said Prince was telling her she was gonna be like Barbara Streisand and things.

Great Interview. They are so Cool and so Real as people. I think they're Great! Pity about Trevor Horn. A real Shock. Funny about what they said about Prince being a LESBIAN cause some Fans used to say that to me. So, I suppose the Inner Person inside PRINCE is a WOMAN of the LESBIAN PERSUASION.

That's true. I never thought about it, but has Prince ever come out and say he's a JW? Just because someone practices a religion, doesn't mean they became a member of the faith.

They havent rode off him for shit. They were the ones who got the job for the scoring on tv shows NOT Prince. Their fathers are musicians as well, who is to say that their fathers didnt put in a good word for them on that part. They made it on their own from what I can see 25 years LATER. Prince didnt help them with any of their albums, he was only thanked on their self titled album( I still have the cassette it appears on).

Just because he didnt trash them in interviews dont mean he didnt do the trashing WHILE they were with him or behind their backs.

YOU have no idea what went on either between the three as well. And no neither do I.
Your assuming things again just like that so called "racial" remark what Wendy said you claim you read in the "Possessed" book that some have still havent told us the PAGE number yet have you? um NOPE! You didnt seem to think I or any of us have it? hah!

When you can tell me the page number when and IF you find it I might take ur assumptions seriously.

They have not done squat to ride off of Prince. I've said it before and I'll say it again- I have friends well aware of them from their soundtrack work and on other projects who had no idea or interest in the fact that they once worked for Prince. This site is the only place that holds onto that outdated notion. they have moved WELL beyond that guy. Anyone who doesn't get that truly drinks the proverbial koolaid. You can dislike them, their music , whatever. But to deny someone's career? You must not know what it is like to deal with the real world. No one works for long without talent. Look at the people who have NOT continued to work in the industry from the Prince camp. Mostly people who had no real talent to start with and were propped up by Prince.
Man- Prince has got some mighty thin skin if he's offended or worried about what they say about their relationship with him. I'm sure there is far worse that can be said about a man who is known to treat his employees and relationships as poorly as he has done over the years.

W&L need to stop entertaining and answering any questions about Prince if they ever want to be fully accepted and respected in the industry as something other than artist formerly employed by Prince. Yes they are talented in their own right and working steady but dayum...must every interview reference Prince? What...they dont get any play unless they say something bout the dude? disbelief

Hey, it's not like they're Seth Mcfarlane going around saying "Why, that reminds me of the time Prince, Wendy and six Scandinavian midgets fell into a vat of margerine in Mexico!" These interviewers ask them about Prince. I'm glad they don't mind sharing their (unedited) experiences.
